IDK if I would would say that Kobe had more oppurtunities than Durant. Let's not pretend like Durant wasn't set up for success too. When Durant was drafted, he became the instant franchise player and #1 option. Kobe had to work his way from being a bench warmer, to a 6th man player, than to a starter. And yes, Kobe came into the league with mostly raw potential, while Durant already came into the NBA as a skilled shooter. And as great as Shaq was, the Lakers did not become a championship team until Kobe finally started to hit his strides and molding into an elite player, let's not forget that. Also, lets not try to pretend like Durant isn't playing with the 2nd or 3rd best PG in the game, the 6th man of the year, and Ibaka who finished 2nd in defensive player of the year voting.
no rebuttal Blitz? :shaq:

Kobe can get hot from 3. Unlike any other player in recent history. (Well JR Smith) Jordan was never really a 3 point shooter.

I've seen Kobe score 20 points in 6 minutes or so several times before just by going off from 3.

Even a very good 3 point shooting game only gets you an extra 6-7 points. The difference between Jordan and Kobe from the 3 point line is nowhere near what people make it seem. Once he made it part of his game he did just fine from out there.

What do you want a rebuttal for? I was criticizing your attempt to prorate Kobe's stats even though he was taking more shots than Durant. 1st/2nd option whatever can be left out, they were both shooting a lot, they can be compared at face value.

:obama: I agree on that assessment.

everyone has had a a bad shooting game but kobes percentages werent far off from league average for shooting guards. and in the games im talking about( scoring 40 and up) most of them were on good efficiency so you didnt disprove anything.

its funny questioning someone who has 5 rings and is looked up to by durant himself. you can not like his style but it has helped produced results. how many star players in history have repeated? how many teams have repeated at all?
after shaq he repeated with two fmvps. theres more to tha game than effiency but actual ballers would know that

i think kobe takes terrible shots now though (2010 and after) i think durant has em in that and actual shooting ability. i really like what his game has developed into.

Kobe has had plenty of 40+ point games where he was extremely inefficient. I don't know if he dipped down into the 20's in any of them but he was definitely in the 30's and low 40's in a bunch of them, percentage wise.

The David Robinson game really should have shown people that it's lack of opportunity, not lack of skill, that prevents players from going off for huge numbers. Most players just aren't going to play a game like it's NBA2k.

so one has a higher career points per game average, and does that on a shot less per game, but hes not a better scorer? solid logic

:rudy:

Don't forget that Durant routinely is in the top 5 the league in FTA's.

I said when Kobe got hot from 3. Kobe used to hit 4, 5, 6 3's in a row when he got hot. He has 2 3 point records. 12 3's in a game and 9 straight 3's without a miss.

I was gonna say, doesn't Bean hold the record for most 3's made in a single game with some other guy?

And as for efficiency I don't think even half of Kobe Bryant's best scoring performances happened with him shooting under his career average. In fact his six best scoring performances usually had him shooting 48 and up.

efficient scorer =/= better scorer

KD can get 30 on 19 shots all day. Holla at me when KD scores 62 in 3 quarters though.

As great as KD is, let's not pretend like he ain't playing with the 2nd or 3rd best PG in Westbrook, 6th Man of the Year Harden, and Ibaka, who finished 2nd in DPOTY voting. As great as Durant has been, we need to stop saying like he is carrying shyt as a number 1 option, like he doesn't have a great team and other players than can takeover the game for Durant at any point in a game. But, anyways, its too soon to even compare KD and Kobe's career at this point. We can just dismiss KD and say Kobe already had 3 rings by the time Durant was 23, and shyt like that. But, both are still great players, but it seems like Kobe's torch has been taken by Durant, and Durant is just on another level right now by the way he has been performing in this years playoffs.

Hate.

Kobe shoots 45%. Ray Allen shoots 45%. Reggie shot 47%. The fact you never hear people call those last two inefficient lets you know what type time most these cats are on.
