A better example would be athletes who grew up with money but their parents weren't pro athletes. Having athlete genes/coaching from a young age can probably offset any work ethic issues a person has...

And I'm not saying you need to be poor or middle class go have work ethic. I think melo is gonna be the best cause he has a plethora of resources available and a brother who he cab ask for anything.
But to act like money and fam and trying to change thibgs for family isn't a major motivator for a ton of athletes is dishonest.

whether he is successful in the NBA is another story. if he was a 16 year old who had skills (say creating an app) that ended up being worth millions of dollars there wouldn't be any laws stopping him from buying a lambo. the NBA has weird rules that are going to force him to play overseas/g-league or go unpaid for a year despite his talents.
sure it's his family's money, but lonzo isn't the only reason the ball family is popular. it's a family business. plus he deserves it for talkin shyt on Monday Raw.
