:dwillhuh:How am I a hater or retarded?? I like lamelo and I think he's gonna be the best brother but I understand the importance of goal setting and earning your shyt. fukk out of here
which of KD's points do you refute? you nikkas talk about him being a spoiled kid but if Melo and his brothers did not work from the jump to be good enough basketball players to earn d1 scholarships and make the NBA, their dad would have nothing to talk about. If their dad had nothing to talk about a lot of the money coming in wouldnt be coming in. So Melo, and his brothers DESERVE the spoils if anything.

nothing KD said is wrong. And at the end of the day if a nikka is gonna let a lambo, bytches and some change deter him from being the best athlete he can be...it doesnt matter whether he gets it as a 16 years old or after signing his first NBA contract. Not everybody gets motivation from the same place. The great ones are capable of using anything as motivation...almost as an excuse to push themselves; whether it is poverty, wanting to be the greatest, somebody doubting them, a heckler in the front row etc. So what exactly are you talking about? LaMelo getting a Lambo at age 16 isnt gonna change anything. Like Lavar even said during the show on facebook, Lonzo is chasing MJ but Gelo and Melo are chasing Lonzo. For that simple reason alone, them nikkas will stay motivated.

shyt. If anything its nikkas that grew up with nothing that cant handle the fame / money once they get it and end up squandering it because they lose focus. For somebody that is really passionate however, having the money and everything else situated only gives them that much less to worry about and that much more time to focus on their craft.

You really think if Mayweather was born filthy rich with a silver spoon in his mouth he'd even be boxing?? I really doubt it. Not saying he wouldn't cause you never know but realistically nah
but was Melo born filthy rich? why compare apples (a rich baby) to oranges (a rich teenager)?

a better comparison is Olympic Floyd. Are you telling me that at age 18, 19 that if his fam had come up on a small lottery ...lets say a few mill that he'd just say fukk it and put down the gloves? At that age the passion for the sport, and the drive wouldve already manifested and I highly doubt he'd have quit.

Come on. You can't be that dumb.

money just enhances the person you already are
if he was working that hard just for money purposes, once he got it he would of stopped working as hard
weve seen it time and time again
havint 300 million in the bank and training like you did when you had nothing, and still having the disclipline to not smoke or drink when its all around you is a character thing
kobe winning 5 rings and still training like he has nothing is a character thing

something was taught to them early and they never let it go
exactly

I disagree with how he came at the dude for making a valid initial point. Dude said being spoiled at a young age can hinder people from striving for success and greatness. KD came back with a condescending comment basically saying he's jealous. But the dude had a valid point.

I believe Melo is gonna be a beast and I cape for KD on this board a lot but I don't agree with his initial premise.

I agree that you don't have to be struggling or poor to be motivated to do more like he was saying but I also 100% believe being spoiled and awarded with things either prematurely can hurt you as well.

I don't know melo but I believe there's a fine line for every person. The resources he's been blessed with will help him go far but he's gonna have to fight against a complacency of already thinking he's "made it".

It's actually been documented that a lot of rich people (especially newly rich people) have a fear of spoiling there child too much

Youre trying too hard. A rich 15 year old Floyd wouldn't be a boxer

Character isn't turned on or off, or acquired over time.
I think that's very debatable. Imo character and work ethic is built over time. I don't think people are inherently born either lazy or hardworking

Nope, he'd still have a higher chance to become a boxer than the average person considering his lineage.

How many pro sports athletes are the children of retired players? All of these kids grew up comfortable but still made it. Kobe's dad was an NBA player :heh: Klay Thompson too :heh: Did it mess with their basketball development?

the greatest shooter in nba history grew up a millionaire
the "second greatest" sg in nba history grew up a millionaire
There's a difference between being spoiled and being a millionaire breh. Y'all are acting like I'm saying only way to be motivated is to be broke. That's not what I'm saying. Being spoiled and getting premature fam and fortune can be detrimental to the grind.

Steph' s parents were rich but was Steph famous at 15? Was he pushing lambos with his own signature shoe out? Did he and his family have a reality tv show?

You can go back and look at all my post regarding lamelo. Been caping for the youngin for a year. But there's definitely a danger to all the premature fam and fortune.

More power to him and I know some cats are speaking out because they're jealous. I honestly just want him to be a problem in the nba one day.
