man can imagine if a current superstar got hiv or another telling his son im gon take care of u but not be in your life Or rumors your gambling cost your dad his life or y’all gay for kissing

twitter would destroy them. Even if they avoided twitter like a Jay Z. It’s gon get back to u. It’s impossible for it not to. Back in the day performance was the biggest pressure. Now u have to speak. Y’all would be calling MJ a c00n for being quiet on these crazy times. Propping up Clyde Drexeler just to spite him lol

It don't matter if you winning rings and the best in the game

Harden is a loser and never winning shyt

Jordan's career didn't start in 1991, but let's assume that's when his fukery started.

Imagine it gets out that MJ has a gambling problem, is fuking around on his wife, likes partying all the time, is an a$$hole who only tolerates fans when they are giving him money, is punching teammates in practice, and actively bullies the second best player on the team. Imagine being known as the guy that says "Republicans buy sneakers too" in an era of photocaptured racial injustice.

Have you seen the media and the sensitivity of the modern consumer?

That Michael would be a pariah. He'd be respected within the league but he'd be treated like a villian by the fans and the media. Based on how much he loved the perception of a squeaky clean hero image I think it would've affected him. He loved being adored and it bothered him when he wasnt.

- Imagine every day instead of the media worshipping you, they are spitting diatribes and writing think pieces about how you're bad for the game.
- Imagine fans booing you at every game
- Imagine the media asking you about your partying and poor treatment of teammates at every presser

dont have a social media then
This, even today there are celebs who maintain the mystery by not posting everything to SM and not having arguments with and trolling commonfolk

MJ would have more coverage and of course cameras everywhere changed things, but access to you is a choice. You don’t have to put every thought and personal moment on the internet

Yeah. He would have been fueled by social media allegations of him cheating on his wife with a raggedy looking woman in a cheap hotel.

Ok.
BTW I see this pic all the time, is there a backstory to this? Was that his mistress?

Steph Curry and Tom Brady pretty much kill this argument. They have the same access and social media exposure and it hasn’t taken away from how their greatness is viewed.

KD is just mentally weak imo.
This would make sense if Curry and Brady had vices to that of MJ and no one said a word.

Your point makes no sense

Tom Brady and Curry don’t really use social media. Brady just started like 2 years ago. Curry’s really the only good example but it’s also because he is never criticized for anything. He has a squeaky clean low profile. It’s the guys in the mix that have issues. And honestly because of social media players are more guarded now and protect the access to them more than ever before.

Exactly, those guys literally don’t do anything that anyone is aware of outside of sports and family. This isn’t the average players on the 80s who was in the mix. The comparison makes no sense. If MJ played today he would have to be as guarded as LeBron.

I don’t know what point you’re trying to make here.

Controlling your own narrative has never been easier for an athlete.

KD gets the energy he puts out. So does Russell Wilson.

Social media is just a tool. We act like it’s something people are powerless over

You think you know every popular athletes vices? You think social media has pulled all skeletons out of their closet?

We don’t know these people.
Again. You use to athletes who have not shown to have the same vices as Michael Jordan as some Sort of proof.

That made no sense.

Secondly, today’s athletes because of social media are much more careful than past athletes. Bottom line, do what MJ did (Gambling the night at a casino before a playoff game, images of him cheating on his wife with an ordinary cac) he would be viral picture taking fodder in today’s social media atmosphere. Stop lying to yourself. I hear past athletes all the time laugh and say they’re happy that they didn’t play in this era because of social media. Stop it :childplease:

My point is that you don’t know what any of these mens vices are. It’s naive to pretend that you do.

Tom Brady could literally be a serial killer.

Hold up. Why am I arguing with you about Michael Jordan in 2022? You think I would have learned my lesson by now

Thats corny.

And that’s not only Michael Jordan. All of those past athletes with all the crap they did would not get away with it in today’s atmosphere. The problem is, you old heads like me love thinking things aren’t worse now and are just the same.
