Hi

My mom, a black American experienced it. She's gorgeous and many people would say she is but some experiences might always hurt and could affect how people move in the future. I'm the product of her not wanting me to experience things she went through. If you know what I mean. When I entered high school, I spoke to her about something and she was honest and told me she hoped I would have certain features that she felt would make things easier for me (I got them) and I won't lie, they do.

I've seen how some black people are treated on both my sides in the black community and in my dad's community. I've also seen how certain black people or non black people with darker skin are treated in other communities. It usually has to do with color and features. It's not just about preference in dating. It's also how people in daily life will treat you or decide what you can do or participate in based on color. This is foul. I'm not with this mess.

My parents relationship didn't last though. My mom worked on it though and moved on. She's actually been with a black man for a while now and their chemistry works. They are both very happy and successful in life. My dad seems to have a weakness for women my mom complexion or darker.

This no diff from manosphere dudes whining about women liking thugs

Like if a woman like thugs and u not one she doing u a favor

Just like if a colorist dude only like light women he doing her a favor

Why are u so obsessed with making a colorist dude like darkskinned women?

Just like dudes be obsessed with making women who like thugs love squares

It makes no sense.

There plenty of men who like dark women

And the over whelming number of dark women get attention from men when they with women of all complexions

This whole complaint is from dark skin women who wasn't chosen who want to force black men to only date them.

They never cared if white Hispanic or Asian dudes date light or dark women

But when black men have choice the sky is falling.

Colorism is white supremacy based practice on black people

U got to talk about all colorism not just when it comes to dating to truly deal with the problem.

These women need to understand there will always be men who desire light skin and Hispanic women etc

But that don't stop dark skin women from getting theres
Nah. What y’all miss is that women do not generally approach men. So some of us have men who APPROACH and say derogatory things about our skin color.

Like, a dude once told me that I was really pretty but we couldn’t get serious because his family expected him to marry someone light skinned. So why get my number and take me out?
Why not just stick to the LS girls? Because in his mind I was low hanging fruit and would be easy.

To me colorism also has to do with going overboard over someone's features..i.e.

"Ohhh look at the Hershey chocolate sista" "look at the liteskin Redbone"...stuff like that makes me cringe and it happens a lot on here...

But im not yall so it is what it is

There are a lot of black women across the color spectrum that are colored struck too. This is not just a black man problem. I know plenty of girls who went out of their way to have children by light-skinned men.

Y’all really need to get over these childhood traumas and become adults.
These aren’t childhood traumas Lmao

I was out of school and a guy from HU told me he couldn’t deal with natural hair and women just need to get a perm.

Imagine a breh from an HBCU saying that to you at dinner 😒

Why are people sharing experiences cast with such a defensive light? If what is said has no effect, who cares? At least we get to acknowledge the wrongness of the phenomenon. 1 + 1=2 will never be unnecessary to hear.
Besides which, it’s cathartic for those affected by it. That’s all. And sharing starts small cultural shifts which grow with each generation. These changes start subtly but are very powerful.

Because these conversations are used to present bullshyt a narrative that the average black man is a damn colorist. So yeah we pushing back.

These women hear what one or two colorist rappers, actor or athletes have to say and suddenly “all black men have a problem with colorism” or it’s “I’ve experienced colorism from multiple black men” :mjlol:

And you know what even if we say the average black man is a colorist, who programmed BM to be that way?. We know who and these complainers NEVER have any smoke for them :mjlol:

Then there are also more brown/dark skin black women than light skinned black women. Black People who actually come from black areas are going to grow up and be around more brown-dark skin women than light skinned women by default. So if black men revere light skin like they say then how did any of these brown or dark skin women even date or get into relationships? :russ:

Or are we gonna do the bullshyt Dark Skin girl Cinderella Colorist man fantasy where the colorist black man who is only interested in light skin just happens to find the dark skin woman attractive and just always happen to say “you look real pretty for a dark skin girl”:duck: :mjlol:

I’m a light-medium guy and I’ve had more colorism thrown at me than the other way around when it comes to dating, But i see how my brothers who are both dark skin get treated by people versus me so I understand and can acknowledge it as a real thing.

My only problem when talking about colorism is that for woman it only comes up when talking about desirability and things of that nature I wish the broader scope of featurism and colorism were more spoken about in the way darker skin people are discriminated against in general from stereotypes to over masculinization to just being treated shyttier in general.

Also this isn’t a black people thing this happens everywhere in many different cultures and ethnic groups of people.

Everybody practices this. Now you can bullshyt yourself until you believe otherwise but I promise you.....if you have a preference at all you practice colorism. Yes even you guys on here who love darker women above all. That's colorism. It's really not the ugly word it's being made out to be. Dudes are so over the top militant they can't admit to having a preference. Kinda crap is that? :hubie::hubie:

I discriminate against any female darker than me or taller than me. With not a care given. There is somebody out there for everybody so why do I need to bullshyt myself to spare feelings?

As a dark skin breh, I really don't care about having that conversation.

I only care about the women that fukk with me. If they don't like me because I am dark skin, I don't know or care who they are nor do I wish to know them.
