Lol. If I gotta sit down and read about the song it's not an efficiently delivered message.

I still rock with the song, though. The hook is fire.
You're probably asking for too much. Very few great songs have an "efficient message". It's more about general feelings...but I think you know that

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
Have you heard the song? It's pretty straight forward...

Of course I have. I like the song. I just don't know what he's talking about besides the chorus. His delivery doesn't let it sulk in. I'm sure in I actively listen I'll get it, though.

But I prefer my militants more like Dead Prez. That is to say, comprehensible.

lol thats funny cuz 10 years ago posters were calling Dead Prez fake militants rapping about shyt they would never do in front of white fans...you are a basic contrarian, yall have been around forever. Thats cool tho, I'm the same way at times.

This is a great song and it will resonate for years. More than any other hip hop song released this decade. When they make the list it will be Top 3

You make no sense, I'm sorry but yo...

The song comes on right after U on the album, where he has a mental breakdown over his fame and failure to meet personal responsibilities. Alright also details his struggle with fame, being a famous rapper/revenue generator for a corporation ("and when I wake up I recognize you're looking at me for the pay cut"). He details his vices and struggle and then the chorus.

Second verse is Lucy (Lucifer/drugs/etc) tempting him with more worldly things, as she does throughout the album. He sees the evil of consumerism and tries not to think of it, but nothing he does quenches its thirst.

There is no solution presented, no happy ending or moment of overcoming. It's basically I'm fukked up but I'm gonna be alright.

And then the reoccurring poem at the end adds a new line - "the evils of Lucy were all around me, so I went running for answers."

Thematically it reminds me of Welcome To The Machine by Pink Floyd. Trapped in the industry surrounded by vices that no longer satisfy,
