Can somebody break down what this video is about? I love the visuals & I understand the beginning about the problems goin on in the world but he lost me when I seen the police carrying the car.what that about and why is he standing on the street lights? Why the cop shoot with his fingers? It gotta have some kind of meaning behind it.
My stab at interpretation though I'm open to it being totally wrong:
The police carrying the car was like saying we(Black Hippy) are the kings, the gawds, the pharoahs, not the the cops, who are the real slaves to the system and we gone ride out on their backs as they are the real burdened.
I think the video could be taken two ways. Single 'Alright' or album context 'Alright'. Either KDot is Jesus and was killed on the cross(street crossing to not make it too obvious by putting him on a cross) and was resurrected -OR- if you going by the context of the album you could almost say he's Lucy. I say that because as a single they seem to be focusing on this as a street anthem for the masses, while in the context of the album its him personally trying to convince himself not to committ suicide or to succumb to the evils of Lucy. Lucy is supposed to arrive euphorically and lead him astray at the temptation of money(he's throwing money out of the car, which could be him helping in the sense of the single as well, hence the double meaning). He also uttered the line, "see my name is Lucy" while on the stop light, which could be him playing Lucy and selling the illusion. Hard to tell. I think it could be either or both. They hinted at it being personal with some of the sounds from U, but for those that haven't listened to TPAB extensively, they could just see that as sounds of anguish in general. Interesting that the music from 'How Much a Dollar Costs?' is there also. Hint that people are seeing the Messiah? So it could be either. Probably Jesus to those who aren't as familiar with the narrative of TPAB and probably Lucy to those who have listened and know the story. Wish the next release could be a continuation or that the video kept going right into For Sale?, but I'm sure it will be 'These Walls'. Hope they follow up with How Much a Dollar Cost. Not as catchy, but could solidify the legend
I think the cop just signified the killing of Jesus by the non-believers, the authority, literally done by the soldiers of the Roman empire(Cops being the soldiers of our current empire) why kill with his fingers? I dunno. A wish to kill, being just as bad as a literal kill? I dunno. Cool ending though.
