I think some people are downplaying GKMC's artistry and exaggerating how "accessible" it was.

GKMC is a narrative/story driven album where each song weaves into each other and there's some very good concept songs on there as well. It's not just a "popular Kendrick album." It's full of creativity and authenticity throughout.

Kendrick got progressively worse past TPAB - DAMN was largely hit and miss, Mr Morales was just bad. Haven't revisited that album since May 22 and have no desire to.

I'll probably be flamed to hell but his first two are his "weakest" I say that because they don't push the enevlope that TPAB and others did, GMKC is a good concept album but didn't do anything crazy with the production concepts, also his rapping was weaker on his first two albums (Section 80 and GKMC)

He killed that Mr. Morales tour FYI as well.

Agreed. On some level it's cool that Kendrick is doing Prince-like shyt where he's getting all his ideas out, including for artists he signed. But then you end up with a situation where the tracks you keep for your album and the tracks you give to Keem all have the same vibe...and that's not good.

I could be wrong, but I also think there's this underlining "I'm beyond rap" weirdo elitism creeping in and I think that's coming from Keem and Dave Free. Not just with the music but the weird fashion shyt. At least when Kanye was doing this, he was making some of the dopest music possible that fit the fashion world while also being rap shyt. We know what type of music Virgil fukked with...it wasn't this type of shyt. I'm not taking my trauma raps album to the fashion show to get props from dudes who pop pills and wear cock rings. No offense.

I hope this is just some shyt he had to get off his chest and the return will be more...Kendrick. Something more exciting, and less insular.

Had a FAMU band there as well.

GKMC doesn't need to have experimental type production to be a strong album.

Kendrick isn't Kanye. That's not really his lane even though he has dabbled in it. GKMC has strong rapping, lyricism, and storytelling that ties right into the narrative of the album.

Also, I find GKMC/S80's rapping better than DAMN's by far. DAMN had some highlights but Humble alone is some of the most underwhelming lyricism from Kendrick.

S80 sucks to me. Maybe that's too strong of a word. Like it was on the cusp of being special but didn't know how to get there just yet. Then GKMC dropped

Mr Morale is something that should’ve dropped in 2019. A 5 year wait for that album is unacceptable imo. I don’t hear the same rapper I heard when DAMN dropped. (Heart or IV). I’m afraid Kendrick peaked during the TPAB/UU sessions and that we have heard the best of him as a rapper. sounds like that fire inside him is dying

I think he’s going to come back super hard. He said he had writers block and you can tell. Especially from those leaks.

His next project will be amazing I know it

Mr Morale was my biggest key down in rap ever. I was so fukking ready to hear new Kendrick. Damn was ok to me but Mr. Morale is such a piece of shyt. I heard that album once and never again. I'm still heated at how shytty that thing is.

The worst part is the new hipster crowd that is so up Kendricks ass that they act like everything he does deserves a Pulitzer prize.

Dude regressed mentally and talent wise.

I love kendrick but I turned it off and never looked back after that screaming track
