I see the slight at the God. Next time @ me. I NEVER said rappers shouldn't use literary tools in rap. They do and they almost HAVE TO to make a good rap record. What I'm saying is that you have to be astute at using them to make a record that resonates. Being able to use them succinctly is a gift that many rappers don't have. How many times did I point out that a MC like Biggie, Pac or Ghost is much more superior than a rapper like Lupe because they are more skilled at using those tools? Again...I NEVER said rappers shouldn't use literary tools.

I said it in my post. Literary tools (metaphors, POV, imagery...) almost have to be used in most rap songs but the rap verses that are considered classics are the ones that use them succinctly and in a manner that evokes certain emotions from the listener almost immediately. I would rate a verse like Ghostface's on Impossible much higher than anything I've heard from Lupe because he uses several literary devices expertly and without being overly complex. It just hits you. It places you there at the scene where Jamie got shot. No extra shyt. Lupe, at least current Lupe, does not display this proficiency. That's what I mean by profound MCing.

And you say "I'm not the only poster pushing this nonsense"...please post where I stated or even implied that rappers shouldn't utilize literary tools. Matter fact, I don't think I recall ANYONE stating this. Please post where this is being done. Thanks in advance.
