I agree that the industry push is why everyone says K Dot is GOAT. K Dot was out for years as an underground rapper and hardly anyone was fukking with him. You can't deny that you weren't fukking with K Dot as an underground artist. Most people who call themselves Hip Hop heads don't even listen to underground rappers. People from the East Coast, Midwest and Down South were saying West Coast Rap was dead. shyt, most non-Cali folks aren't even real fans of West Coast Hip Hop period. Y'all respect one dynasty of West Coast Rap in that being N.W.A./Cube/D.O.C./Dre/Snoop/The Game and yes Kendrick. That's one singular continuous dynasty of L.A. Hip Hop in everything connected to Dre. And maybe throw in Quik, MC Eiht, Spice 1, Too $hort, Souls of Mischief and Pharcyde for good measure. That's like me saying I only listen to Wu-Tang and Wu affiliates, but no other East Coast rappers. 
Even though I'm from Cali, I live on the East Coast and people out here think E-40 and Mac Dre were clowns and they don't respect underground Northern Cali artists and act like they don't exist. So stop fukking saying K Dot is goat if you don't even really fukk with Cali to begin with. 
Look at Lil B. He didn't have the industry push. Because of that, he went the Too $hort route by making parody shock value records to gain a buzz independently but he also showed us that people don't want to hear real music because his real songs get the lowest views and lowest recognition. Only his stupid ignorant songs went viral. "Wonton Soup" has 12 million views and "Age of Information" only has half a million views after five years and being used in the curriculum in a Berkeley college course for its cultural relevance
. Some of Lil B's best real composed songs have less than 200K views after years. 
Some of the best underground rappers from the Bay barely break a few thousand views. And yes, K Dot was like that too before he was signed. If Lil B had the industry push, he might be a completely serious rapper like K Dot.
