I agree wit all of this but when did Lupe say Jay is the GOAT?..didnt he say Nas was like Nas' biggest fan and his whole name is based off Nas..and how his fav album ever is IWW....it seems like honestly these cats just say whatevers relevant to the interview...either way Nas and Jay is both GOATS so nikkas need to give this a rest already...

Also Wale chanted "nikka I'm Nas, these nikkaz Pras" on the Mixtape About Nothing but I guess cats overlook that too.

Jay Z has become a powerful businessperson with important connections so it's no surprise that rappers who want to be financially successful in todays climate would gravitate to upping him as a way for bettering their chances of advancement and networking. But Jay Z will always be Jay Z - the king of the milquetoast rappers who helps business america commodify and market their version of acceptable blackness for white/asian/latino kids and the blacks who want to be accepted by them.

Glorifying Public Enemy fighting the power for social and economic justice to glorifying acceptable black guy™ Jay Z - That's why hip hop has been dead of any relevance as a movement for a long time. In fact, they should really separate. Todays hip hop should be called something like pop hop. It's manufactured bullshyt with no real message outside of serving its master.

I wouldnt say I Am is better than Vol.2...I def wouldnt say SD is better than Black Album...and I wouldnt say Untitled is better than AG....Its funny cause I think Untitled and AG are both artists most focused albums as far as concept execution...that comparison could go either way depending on what u fukk wit imo...I put em at a tie but I think AG is more easy to take in tho...

Reservoir dogs

All great posse cuts, but the album was more of a backstage predynasty mixtape with one major jay solo banger.

Nas actually made an album, albeit incoherent with plenty of misses, but his creative process was still there

On vol 2, jays posse cuts were also hit or miss

Ja rule, dmx, Swizz Beats, JD, and Timbaland made that album memorable and saved jay fr om releasing his 3rd consecutive commercial dud. Jay also got rocked on Resevoir Dogs and nikka what. And Ja Rule and DMX stole his shine with damn near identical styles. Every song wit memph bleek was forgettable. The ranjhaz, foxy, and too short made matters worse. The best pure hiphop track was probably "It's Alright"

Yes it was the pinnacle of his commercial success spearheaded by his biggest single ever. But it was also fueled by the DMX wave, JDs hot hand and Rush Hour.

Nas had the hate me now controversy, but the song was undeniably flames. It sparked I Am to go 3x plat despite the major bootlegging

hate me now
Ghetto prisoners
Nas is like

We will survive
Small world
Undying love

Vs jays famous guest appearances, trendy producers, pre-made hits, him getting outshined on all 4 of the only noteworthy collabos, and lack of quality solo tracks (only 2)

As far as judging the quality of art in both albums, Nas and I Am all day. Jay wasnt trying to make a good album (from an artistic pov) with this one. His main goal were hit singles big name collabs and the Rush Hour publicity to assure his success.

Ultimately it worked, and he followed the same process 2 more times, before making arguably his best real album again, but was ironically overshadowed by Nas lyrical dominance once again.

It was like 27 songs, There's always gonna be misses (justify my thug, my first song, change clothes), but his peak tracks were in a whole different zone from Jay's (allure, 99 problems, threats)

And like kendrick lamar, this is just my opinion

You people really need to stop taking your anger at the world out on Jay Z. It's really pathetic.

He is your god. You brainwashed fans even Chant the name of a pagan god out of idolization of him. You arr stuck in a jockin jayz trance and yall love it. Hip hop isnt dead. The majority of fans, like u, are brainless zombies. Smart enough to repeat a lyric, but way too simple to grasp its higher meaning.

But most people think that you mirror Jay-Z besides cadence and swagger. What do you think is his impact on Hip-Hop and how does that affect what you want to do to the game?

Everybody had to learn from somebody to do something. Babies had to learn how to walk and talk. Why do English people have English accents? When people had to learn to rap, you had to learn from the best. My first verses were inspired by Ice Cube and Spice-1. So over the years Im learning and learning, and then Jay comes in and hes the greatest! I wanted to take everything that Ive learned and make it me. Thats why I am not entirely Jay. I learned how to tell stories from Nas. Lil Wayne raps like Hov because he feels the same like I do. Everybody at one point was rapping like the hottest dude out, because they were the ones who were doing it. I just want to study the greats.

He's a fan of Nas and Jay but he took on Jay's style because he
feels he's the greatest.
His opinion may have changed since then but his rap style certainly hasn't.
I'm hoping it's common knowledge that dudes like Wayne and Drake look
up to Jay-z.
I'll throw in Wale's words for good measure :

I wasn't saying he isn't a fan of Nas I was just saying we know
who he models his rap style after and who he also thinks is one
of the G.O.A.T.'s
