StillNotSoft Thats what I'm talking about in my first post in here. I could easily see someone saying Cube, Pac, Ghost, Scarface, Common, Nas etc etc are better than Jay and are more entitled to being the GOAT, but when you stack them up Jay always seems to have the career that seems the most lucrative for an aspiring rapper. Everyone always says they are real like Pac, but I never heard someone say they wanted to die like him or have the same career as him
Longevity and sales kinda go hand in hand and that's the only stat outside of the music that should mean sumthing honestly....managing to navigate the business world shouldn't have anything to do with being the goat...that's just extra shyt we should use to rub in Nas stans and Jay haters faces
Its a insult to Jay to act as if extra criteria gotta be added that we don't discuss when comparing ANY other rappers greatness......Jay fans fall into the trap in tryin to counter ridiculous arguments of Jay haters end up using ridiculous arguments to try to cement Jays greatness when its already done, let's just stick with the logic Jay fans
2 undeniable classics, overall id say 4 arguable....I think the bar is set that u need at least 2 to be in that real goat discussion....legend after legend has cosigned Jay as they favorite rapper,Jay has been one of the most consistent artist and lyricist of all time, comin up on almost 20 yrs in the game, put other nikkas on and his protege also became a legend(Beans, won't include Kanye)....he lacks content, but for his image and his "character" he plays in this rap game he does exactly what is to be expected....Jays part has been the dopeboy with the calm, disrespectful demeanor since day 1.....I don't want him rappin about social issues.....Just like u don't want CHUCK d rappin about the club, that's not his "part"....Nas image has been diverse since day 1 which is why he can navigate both....I give em respect for shying away from the mainstream, and females luv em so he coulda pandered for that female audience his whole career but hasn't....but I ain't givin em no extra credit for that
Ill give em extra credit becuz making songs with concepts have a higher degree of difficulty....Cool of Nas to take risk, but u maybe shoulda stayed in your comfort zone bcuz Nas consistency is severly lacking in comparison to Jay imo...not lyrically but album and song quality....Nas and Jay can go either way,if u not sumbody who will hold his commercialism against em and can appreciate em for what his part is in this game.
Pac shyttin on both these nikkas so tuff tho

and Cube right next to em with the scowl
And oh yeah not every rappers dream is to be a half a billionaire....Nas himself didn't want the success and he ain't the only one who don't aim to have that level of stardom or money...u can't hold that against sumbody from a musical standpoint.
