As for who did we fight. No one actually. We weren't invaded the same way you were. The germans were a hands off european power, basically, they drew a line for the OTHER european countries to respect, came, got their coffee and left. There were no wars, and the Belgians later came and force slaved the Tutsis. Other kingdoms within the border lines were left alone, while smaller ones were bullied by neighbors.
