Being overseas and around a dude who has more followers than Steph and Bron, yeah….they are only two megastars considered superstars in the league now.

My homie is one of the world’s most known fitness influencers. Shaq and other NBA heads follow him. He only touts Shaq, Steph, and Bron as major followers in his press kit :manny:

Just a brain dead take. Steph and Bron are the biggest. There's no where on the planet Giannis would go and wouldn't be recognized. Wembanyama been lighting the internet up since he was 17. Tatum outselling Bron in jerseys this year. Does anyone think Luka ain't as big in Europe as anyone? Not to mention some of those smaller big 10s names like Kyrie, Harden, Westbrook, KD.

These ridiculous takes that the NBA ain't got nobody with star level draw that ain't get drafted before the 2010s is so tired

Untrue. Even in Nigeria where Im at now, he has work to do to be more known.

they said "hell no" to jokic being a superstar. and to say Giannis isnt a superstar is crazy

I really think there's truth to nba players just being xenophobic

If he’s talking about marketable icons when he says “superstars”, then he’s right. The NBA never has more than 2 true superstars at once.

In the ‘80s, it was Magic and Bird and everyone else

In the ‘90s, it was Jordan and everyone else

In the 2000s, it was Lebron and Kobe

In the 2010s, it was Lebron

Today it’s Curry and old Lebron

Bron wasn't a superstar for all of the 2000s

You can give it to him starting 2007ish

First half of the 2000s was Shaq, Kobe, AI and Duncan

They cant get to that level everygame because of theor age. So you have to see that and adjust. Saying bron and steph are the only 2 superstars implies theyre the 2 best players in the league
Got nothing to do with age
They just play on shyt teams

Nah breh. A superstar is someone who transcends the sport. LeBron and Steph are the only two who have legitimately done that over the last decade or so. I’m always around random chicks who give no fukks about sports, they all know Bron and Steph, nobody knows Luka, KD, Joker, etc, unless you actively keep up with hoops.
If you're MVP, a champion or first team all nba you're a superstar. Duncan was a superstar, Jokic is a superstar. I do not care about bytches thoughts on sports

If your definition of superstar is someone who has name recognition outside of the NBA fandom, that's absolutely true. Bron and Steph are clearly the only guys with that level of popularity worldwide.

And a lot of this has to do with social media/rings culture; back in the days you could have a favorite player because you liked his play style or he was cool as hell. I feel like we weren't thinking about "can this play style work in the playoffs, is this roster championship caliber". We just had fun watching them during regular season.

Could you imagine having a favorite player on a losing team or a first round team in this era? You would get fried everyday.

You can't make new superstars currently because they need to be hyped already, be dominate soon as they show up and start winning chips by like year 2.

Jordan and Kobe received than same criticism you are speaking of until they shut the critics up.

LeBron stans blame everyone but him for his recent flameouts.

False. LeBron is the only created superstar. Steph Curry was organic. They have trid to make others superstars but people don't really care or buy into the "hype".
