I was a marketing major breh. I know all about that shyt. You create a brand to acquire the things KD has. If you ask a rookie in the NBA like Harrison Barnes about why branding is important it would be to get the opportunities that KD has already capitalized on. Stop with the branding shyt please. YOU CREATE A BRAND TO GET ALL OF THE OFF COURT OPPORTUNITIES THAT KD ALREADY HAS. No need to worry about branding if you already have the results of creating a brand.
I completely disagree.
He's being very clear...he's interested in expanding his brand.
If you're trying to do that, why would you not roll with Roc Nation? Isn't that really why Jay started that aspect of the company in the first place..to lend his OWN huge name to others in assistance with THEIR brand-building?
Also, wouldn't Durant know best if his brand is already well-established enough? Like, it's amusing here...how in the world can cats on a message board so conclusively profess to be familiar with the financial and marketing situation of someone they don't personally know?![]()
The whole ENDEAVOR is about name-branding, let's be real.

Worldwide Wes or Steve Stoute?
I thought roc nation was with caa?
I don't get it...answer the same question regarding Oprah. Her star power alone did not get her a TV station. Same with Hov and his music
Remove wu from wu wear and there would be no sales...so having star power and musical influence are a giving, but nobody is going to ask Wu to partner in a sport agency venture
You're not arguing any of my points here...All you're really saying is that Jay-Z is uniquely equipped to be "the face"... When you're not the one that needs to be impressed.. 20 year old black athletes that love rap music and fame are...
Jay is the bait on the hook..Not the one that will reel in the fish, cut, clean and cook it...
The reason why nobody is asking to partner with Wu isn't because RZA and Power are inferior business men.. Its because they aren't as attractive as bait in 2013...
Whether you want to admit it or not Jay Z is one of the most influential black men in the world. Sue me for embracing the idea of black athletes wanting to align with other successful black people. It may not be a big deal to you but its significant to me. There are black coaches in the NBA but that doesnt mean there are ENOUGH. I personally enjoy seeing black people with money connect with each other.
This is my point. Hov is bringing something more to the table than just his star power. Again, No Limit Sports
I'm not sure if you're one of those who naively viewed early Rocafella records partnership as Hov being a booth rat, while Dame doing all the business moves. At some point you gotta give credit where it's due
Wealthy people use rich people to do their bidding to the poor... Hip hop, politics and sports have never been a clearer example of this...
CAA with a genius chess move to rope in impressionable young athletes... Its only Black power on the surface and through symbolism...Expect other major agencies to follow suit...Drake, Wayne and Kanye should be expecting a call....
