:snoop: nikkas is making moves with their heart not their mind.

I completely disagree.

He's being very clear...he's interested in expanding his brand.

If you're trying to do that, why would you not roll with Roc Nation? Isn't that really why Jay started that aspect of the company in the first place..to lend his OWN huge name to others in assistance with THEIR brand-building?

Also, wouldn't Durant know best if his brand is already well-established enough? Like, it's amusing here...how in the world can cats on a message board so conclusively profess to be familiar with the financial and marketing situation of someone they don't personally know? :heh: :childplease:

The whole ENDEAVOR is about name-branding, let's be real.

:dwillhuh: the amount of bitter folks and irrational hate towards black excellence is amazing. The interesting part is that most are from other black folks :lolbron: same shyt happens in other races too

Jay-Z exploits the black youth for his advantage about just as much as any white person i know :mjpls:

:umad:

you call it exploit, the rest of us call it inspire

For a nikka his age that rarely gives interviews It's simply amazing how he has so much influence on young nikkas. I've never seen anything like it. I can't recall the last interview the nikka gave to an urban outlet yet nikkas follow him like he's a prophet. I'm honestly amazed by this shyt. I never seen the appeal myself. I respect the business moves but I don't get the way nikkas with money are so attracted to him (hetero speaking).

 Bobby De niro went into bytch mode cause Hov didn't call him back....so age is not a factor. There are obviously moves made by Hov that are outside the realm of TMZ reporting and outside of Hov's catalog of music that is appealing to folks who want to break bread with him. They respecting his mind now, it's just a matter of time now...

Wealthy people use rich people to do their bidding to the poor... Hip hop, politics and sports have never been a clearer example of this...

CAA with a genius chess move to rope in impressionable young athletes... Its only Black power on the surface and through symbolism...Expect other major agencies to follow suit...Drake, Wayne and Kanye should be expecting a call....

I agree with the rich helping the rich to get more rich on the poor. But I also see the message that it's OK for black folks to consciously want to break bread with other black folks with out fears of being labeled tribal. The fears of what white folks will say are already being shown in this thread cause dude asking why Roc nation Sports don't have any white athletes, but yet you won't hear why sport agencies don't have black agents. Certain social structures are deemed more comfortable to some of us

You are understating Hov's business savvy and/or business partners if you think that any sport's agency will try to partner up with the current "hot" musical talent. There has to be more to it than that

As far as your last paragraph these corporations go with monkey see monkey do when it comes to using hip hop as potential cash cows.. After Russell partnered with Phat Farm we saw a million copycats.. How many rappers have been used as faces for liquor brands? If this is successful you are naive to not think it won't be replicated.. Its just how things work..

I agree with your first paragraph...

Russel is a business man, not a front of the camera talent. So his phat farm venture was not really far fetched if you considered he was not just making music/hip hop business moves only. Having a talent be the face of your product is a regular marketing tactic, which is the agreement most entertainers have

But having a talent be the face of what a client will get from a company via their services, resources, and career market planning, being a "hot" talent alone is not enough. No limit sports has proven that

Hov have proven via his success away from the booth that he brings more to the table than just his star power and influence through his music

no he wouldn't. sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side. we all know this benefits jay and caa. straight power moves. but i mean endorsement deals with degree, sprint, nike, gatorade, 2k sports isnt enough??. its one thing to run a successful record label, but what has hov proven as far as marketing and branding? maybe im wrong. but hov does handle the branding aspect and caa the finances right??

What examples of business success has he accomplished independent from his star power and musical influence? It's impossible to divorce the two..

And Wu Wear is a better example to use instead of Phat Farm..The point still remains...

Im sitting here thinking nikkas really can't be this thick until I read this. Jay is known across the globe for a name that ain't even his OWN DAMN NAME. Say what you want about his rapping, but his business game has been on point so far. He doesn't expose himself to fukkery......actually the last time anyone heard something sideways about Jay was Ether. He's crafted himself as a man that appeals to all audiences. When he took the subway to perform that show there was an old lady that he sat next to that didn't know what he looked like, but she recognized the name. That's next level.

I don't get it...answer the same question regarding Oprah. Her star power alone did not get her a TV station. Same with Hov and his music

Remove wu from wu wear and there would be no sales...so having star power and musical influence are a giving, but nobody is going to ask Wu to partner in a sport agency venture
