When people bring up shyt like that it's often a deflection, that doesn't excuse police murdering black people unjustly and more often than not getting away with it. There's many problems in the world and many that need to be dealt with, 1 of the major ones at the moment is the police brutality and barbarity and corrupt abuse and treatment, what do people who say that expect people to do? Not say shyt because there's other issues too? Nah what's happening is wrong and fukked up and should be protested, no-one says it means you can't protest and try to change other things too, but this is something that should be strongly protested because to have the authorities systematically murdering minorities and being supported is disgusting and unacceptable, and highly dangerous, it can't be tolerated or accepted silently.

Lot of fair points. And I agree with a lot of them generally. Government killing black people is different than black people killing each other.

I can understand why you or anyone would be tight at police murdering black people and then other black people then using that as a platform to talk about the madness of us killing ourselves.

But something's got to give. Way more attention and outrage is aimed at police slaying black folk than black people killing each other. It's strange and weird to think there are people who are part of the uproar targeted at at blue-on-black violence (which they should be) but then damn near indifferent at black-on-black violence (which claims way more black people's lives). I think this reality is unsettling for some and they feel the need to point out the hypocrisy or the irony.

So, again, I get why you are upset because you see these at two different issues that should be addressed differently. But maybe they are intertwined and part and parcel of the same problem--people don't value black lives like they do others and/or there's always a legit reason to take a black person's life. If this is so, it's hard to talk about one without also talking about the other. Tell me how I'm wrong and I'll show you how maybe you're not seeing the larger picture.
I'd love a huge protest all over Chicago aimed at stopping the violence there. Kind of like in the movie Chi-raq.

I can't really tell you that you are wrong because I don't know, this is a very complex issue. It is probably one of several factors, I think it's pretty naive to claim that an important factor to why there're racists is black peoples own fault. If that was the case Obama wouldn't be the racists biggest target before he even before he was elected while he was running.

I'm with you regarding black on black crime being worse than police brutality on a day to day basis. However, solving black on black crime is very complex issue, just like "the war on drugs" or white on white crime are complex. It's a consequence of a large constellation of other complex problems like poverty, social culture, history (vicious cycle), education, racism, business (drugs) and on with budget restrictions. You can't just tell criminals to stop killing each other, so now the question is about why they are criminals. And we can't act like the murder rate isn't decreasing, the worst spot Chicago has gone from around 900 murders + murders to below 500, while the population has vastly increased I think last year or 2014 was the least murders of all times but has since increased again. NY went from 2000 murders to 300 and LA probably has similar numbers.

I assume that police brutality has decreased with the same type of numbers.

But corruption and brutality by the judicial system and police is not nearly as complex, these are grown ass "educated" men breaking the laws they so dearly love. The only complexity I see is the omertà type of culture.

They spend huge budgets on the war on drugs and prison cells for weed but can't touch the budget for upping the social structures that turn kids into fukkheads like these gangsters. In the end most of it is just pure racism, the reasons to why it still exists is the question. But it's only most of it, the rest is that we have shytty police officers/education for them compared to other western countries and shytty police culture.

But my thing is still that police murders isn't the biggest problem, it's the structural racism from the government where the murders are included.

All the way from laws, budgets, committees, to the discrimination from the police and the worst of all point blank assassination of innocent people.
The latter might not be a big problem for the average person but it affects the culture and the minds of the people, which can have all types of adverse effects on communities.

Why do imbeciles like Gates have to discuss these two problems simultaneously.
Yes, I'd like to see the same work being done for black on black crime like the cats in the late 80s/early 90s did but that's not what we are talking about here. And it's not even about white people, it's about the government who are supposed to represent us, who we finance that are killing black people and systematically discriminating and protecting the perpetrators. This means that they are all involved, the whole justice system.

The black on black crime thing is just as wack if not worse as far as everyday life consequences goes, but structurally and conceptually the government sponsored racism is worse. And might be one of the reasons to why several subsets of the black community are in the shytty position they are in.

Dude got me heated, but my point is that both problems need the same attention but not in conjunction.
I been working for the boys and girls clubs all thru out Chicago for the past seven years....I have worked with Michael Jordan family and workers at his James Jordan boys and club. Etc...there are groups who work everyday fighting black on black crime by giving children hope..helping some get jobs, school clothes, give them some type of positive guidance..but since groups like that are not on CNN or on Facebook everyday to some they don't exist..SOME of our people are not aware of what goes on unless its pushed thru media... Sad shyt...not speaking directly to you...just read somethin in your post that made me think of this.

TBH, I know some but I'm very removed from the work and problems in the projects at this point in my life. I'm well aware of the macro questions, but really nothing about the day to day progress other than what I read in the news. However when I'm back in NY I'll try to get involved in something more the company's social responsibility events.

Perhaps it isn't as loud because it's not really a movement like the movements in the 90s or BLM but more several small organizations all over the nation trying to help the people. With connections to community leaders/politicians that try to work through the "correct channels", behind closed doors.

What if all he's saying is ..

Get this :jbhmm:

We get equally mad and post just as many pictures when we kill one another

As we do when the police does it to us.

They both wrong ..

We just go about them differently ..

And a death is a death .. however they got there..

We should acknowledge that life

Like we would if they died in any other manner ..

Maybe .. just maybe that's not considered c00nin..

And just an observation that hits close to home ..

Don't understand the pov of people who say he's wrong or a c00n for this, he's absolutely right. He's not talking about police brutality vs. black on black crime, he's talking about the people's reactions to them, seems like nobody gives a fukk about black on black murders, shyt don't even make the news when 80 bodies drop over a weekend and shyt like that, crazy
