Thats a bad way of thinking. Spousal support fukks people with normal salaries up way worse than millionaires, millionaires dollar amounts are higher but they're still millionaires. Imagine having a normal salary and the judge awards her the house, and you have to cover the mortgage for a house you're not staying in. That and a monthly amount you have to pay all while trying to maintain your new life.

Judges make awards based on a review of the finances. They can afford it, they just don't want to pay it. A house wife or husband deserves to be set up in the event of a divorce. Often times they are years removed from the job market and current skills. Employability is low.

Spousal support and child support are different. The average guy will have to pay child support in a divorce. Guys who are more wealthy may have to pay spousal support AND child support, but again they can afford it.
