That Bali chick definitely resonated with me.

I used to teach overseas and it’s full of women who are either hippies looking for rich dudes, overweight women who think all men are dusty, women over 35, or extremely undesirable women.

:yeshrug:

She ran away from her rich family to now look for a rich man in bali with energy vibes :mjlol:

when you’re broke or inexperienced then you tend to live on the surface level (i.e. dudes see a fine chick and say I wanna marry her, folks being in a bunch of short term relationships, etc).

when you gain experience or have stuff to lose you become way more calculated in how you approach things.

that fine chick below the surface could be drowning in debt, addicted to pills, an alcoholic, have family trauma, etc. etc. Are these things you want to take on because she looks good? Alot of brehs lack discipline and end up getting screwed over, life is the best teacher but not everyone is lucky to take an L that they can bounce back from.

Dating in DC is competitive.

It's also a city filled with transplant's who don't stick around or never really make it "home", making relationships even more difficult. My cousin has been in D.C. for 20 years and still spends most of his downtime in NYC. I know several DMV folks who moved to NYC and never looked back, whereas the reverse doesn't happen as far as I can see.

Last night show reminded me of this recent Noah Smith article. Very similar message to Kevin's intro.
Social class in America

"To decide whether someone is a suitable spouse for your child — perhaps the ultimate determinant of class in any society — requires solving a hard computational problem. You have to evaluate their income and their potential income; their wealth and their family’s wealth; their occupation and their career prospects; their race and their racial politics; and their educational attainment. And all the interactions between those things. And you have to do it all while studiously pretending to yourself that you live in a middle-class society where anyone can be anything they want to be."

:wow:

i started listening to the SMV vs Social Class episode this morning on the way to work. It was a little confusing the way he explained it so far. But he's definitely going to a new level with this.

It happens all the time. I know a lot of people from NYC who live here

Class is something you can’t really teach. You have it or you don’t by the time you enter adult phase. There’s a caliber of woman who is just on another level and it has nothing to do with money.

not sure your background, but Kev is just shining light on a world people who aren't old money, went to HBCUs, or came up through one of the prominent Black Churches never got exposure to.

BGS and Rom Wills do a better job explaining it. Kevin neglected the category of 92 Climber which is represented in Insecure by Molly, and who are the group that's highly representative of the type of woman who calls into his show.

These women come from poor or working-class backgrounds and have a physical preference for poor/working class men with an edge, but also enjoy the convenience social status of the white-collar professional class. These women in my experience are the most unhappy and unfulfilled because many of them are not physically attracted to many HVM as they see them as corny (if he's even slightly socially awkward) or arrogant (if he's assertive and direct).

They want that HVM + edge who is often himself a 92 climber, and while those men exist, they are even rarer than HVM of men and they often don't want their female equivalents beyond a sexual hookup.

yeah I`m in theory a '92 Climber', and most dudes in my boat laugh at our female equivalents because they lack humility + get brand new. Most dudes like me still 'get down with the get down' we just have bread now, but still have a sense of being humble regarding certain things. The women how ever get brand new on some 'uh uh I do not mess with _____" when they know that's what they came up on, or their family is full of folks who still do it. There is almost a sense of shame regarding where they come from while for men we put that on our back as motivation to keep going forward.
