A black person isnt becoming president in the 60s and 70s, a person in the bay area isnt gonna have friends from practically all races in the 60s and 70s, gay people arent gonna be allowed to get married in the 60s and 70s. The list goes on. Civil rights was obviously one of the most important movements but that is because it was an issue in your face that you couldnt turn a blind eye to.

The reason these things are possible today are because of this gen.

No way are we more progressive than them, we're literally just sitting back enjoying the fruits of their struggle, Trayvon would have caused a riot back in the 60s, 75% of black would have hit the streets and faced dogs. The Trayvon case had more white protesters than black. Only one city rioted the Fruitville incident, and that's cause Oakland don't play that shyt. In the 60s, all city with significant black population would have hit the streets pissed.

The reason these things are possible today are because of this gen.

All generations have helped the previous generations though. The abolitionists back in the 1700/1800's paved the way for all of us born afterwards. My point is the next generations build off the previous ones. Yes we dont riot as much as we used to but that is because the frequency of these issues have gone down. Of course a society of folks getting lynched, waterhoused and chased by dogs on a daily basis is going to be more reactive to injustice compared to a society where these injustices occur less often (Obviously its still happening too often but you get my point)
