Kobe has been in the goat conversation and at the end of the day it’s 2 names that are consistently put ahead of him. i think it is incredibly difficult to have an objective conversation about kobe, because of the circumstances surrounding his passing. to call out his very real shortcomings feels cruel and/or like kicking the man's legacy when he's not here to defend himself. but at the same time it feels like the reverence for kobe has gotten a lot more intense. passionate. unhinged.

IN MY OPINION... i do not think kobe is in the GOAT convo. for me there's a tier with jordan, lebron and kareem in a class of their own. whatever order you have them in, so be it, but kobe's career doesn't measure up. he would be in my next tier, and i wouldn't put him ahead of magic, or duncan or bird or russell or shaq either.
