Hell no Kobe isn't better than Kareem
.The below are the players that I'd say are objectively better than Kobe:

Bron
KAJ
Russell
Then you have players who have a very strong argument for being ranked ahead of him:
Bird
Magic
Shaq
Duncan
Wilt
Then you have a couple "iffys" who COULD be ranked over him.
Hakeem
Curry (got 3 rings off the #2 GOAT, which prevented him from being the #1).
So Kobe could be anywhere from 5 to 12, which is about where he's always ranked. Personally, I'd put him over Bird, Magic and Shaq if we're talking on the court performance, but his lack of serious hardware besides rings holds him back severely.

Bron has 4 MVPs and MJ has 6. Both of them could easily have more. We could argue about Kobe getting more when Nash won 2. Point is....the hype is all retrospective. If they thought he was THAT NIKKA, he should have had more. He was never in THAT conversation during his peak years (1999 to 2009). Considered among the best in the league, but I never heard anyone putting him on Mt. Rushmore until recently.

The main job of a basketball superstar is to impact the game by leading a franchise to chips. To be considered the goat a superstar has to dominate his peers in the era he plays.

Bron was better up close and from 3.
Kobe was better in the midrange.
Stylistically, Kobe was nicer to watch.....Bron was more efficient. Would I rather have a midrange assassin or a guy that's elite up close and can get to the bucket at will while also being better from deep? Matter of preference.
For rings....by that criteria, Russell is GOAT. Dominated his era and won 11x. After that it's KAJ/MJ and then Duncan/Magic/Kobe.

I have no issue if anyone thinks Russell is the goat, I think it’s MJ cause he checks more boxes. KAJ had Magic doing some of the heavy lifting and vise versa. Kobe/Tim did what they were supposed to do to be in consideration for goat.
LeBron had all the tools/talent physically to legit be called the goat but lacked a competitive mindset. Any other great player could have said fuk it and gone about things like him but they didn’t for the most part.
I respect Kobe cause he did the opposite of LeBron. He didn’t want those easy Shaq assisted rings instead he went out and got 2 extra on his own.
The journey is just as important as the destination.
