Its dumb to you because you don't have the capability to analyze and compare. Kareem would easily be the best player today, by a wide margin.

A couple of points....

1. Phil has consistently said that MJ is the better player, however Phil has also said that there are aspects of the game that Kobe was clearly better. As a matter of fact, Phil said that Kobe has better basketball SKILLS than MJ

2. I think the apples/oranges comparison is missing a lot of nikkas in here - Kobe is saying that if Mike had to play with Shaq that he would be consider the sidekick. And if he played with Scottie, he might be considered the greatest. Their situations dictacted how they were perceived.

3. It seems that people are reading this and coming to the conclusion that Phil is saying that he's not near the player that Mike was and that's just not true. Phil didn't say anything like that, he just said Mike was better.

I agree that Mike is better but the gap between the 2 isn't as big as people want to make it.

U have no way to PROVE that.. man nevermind , dont quote me again

Kareem played against 37 of the 50 greatest players ever.

Kareem turned a team with less than 30 wins, into championship contenders his first year with over 55 wins and a trip to the division finals.

Kareems teams won 57 games a year on average

Kareems was in the finals for half of his career

In those finals, Kareem faced teams that, at times, had at the very least, 3 HOFers.
1971 Bullets
Monroe, Unseld

74 Celtics
Havlicek, Cowens

87 Celtics
Bird, Parrish, McHale, Walton

83 6ers,
Erving, Malone

88 Pistons
Dantley, Dumars, Thomas, (Rodman, who everyone knows damn well belongs in the HOF)

Thats only 5 finals teams, but I'm sure you get the point.

Kareem was in the conference finals 70% of his career,
Kareems team had 18 winning seasons in the 19 he played.
Kareem won a Finals MVP at the age of 37.

At the age of 38, Kareem was still averaging over 23 points a game which was an improvement from his four prior seasons.

Kareem 6 rings
Kareem 6 MVPs
Kareem 2 FMVPs
All time leading scorer-Kareem
Most unblockable shot-Kareem

I've always said comparing players is stupid.

It's for fun up to a point, but you cant really argue with who people think is better. Players play in different eras, against and with diffrerent competition.

Also, truth be told, MJ got away with alot more on defense than everyone else. Somewhere I have a VHS of Kenny Gattison talking after that playoff series Chicago vs Charlotte back in like 95. And he was complaining about how if you touch MJ, it's a foul.....but he touches you, then it's a steal.

Kobe definitely doesnt get the treatment from the refs MJ got.

You just don't get it. Some, not all, are going to be great in any era.

I never said some ppl wouldnt be great in any era, but at the same time there are average/all-star players that would be better than they were in they era then another era.. but u cant prove it no matter how many stats u read. If u don't get that than u its Just no point in arguing
