Malta is dropping knowledge and no one wants to listen
Now sure, the 1-10 record when Kobe shoots 20+ fga or scores 30+ points is somewhat of an ESPN stat, but
at what point do people want to stop saying it's just dumb luck and coincidence? When you factor in FGA, FTA, and turnovers, Kobe is using an average of 10 more possessions in losses than in wins. People always try to say he just takes over when the rest of the team isn't clicking, but in many of these games, he used 10+ possessions in the 1st quarter alone. Is he psychic?
There are games where Kobe looks to facilitate, the Lakers play some inside out basketball, and look fairly functional, if not efficient, on offense. Other times, it looks like the Lakers sole focus the entire game is to get Kobe his fukking points. Kobe comes down court and goes into immediate ISOs. Duhon or Morris kill a fastbreak to slow down and set up a Kobe ISO. No one cuts to the basket or sets any screens so Kobe has more room to ISO. It's ugly basketball. If you look at most of the Lakers losses, that is the gameplan from start to finish, it isn't something that just manifests itself when the Lakers are down 10 and need a spark.
For the other guys on the team to be engaged and able to step up in big situations, they have to be regularly featured in the offense. The Lakers' roster has almost completely turned over the last few years but it's still the same story, teammates standing back and watching while Kobe goes into Kobeball. If Kobe wants those other guys to stand up to him and pull a Carlton Banks, he sure hasn't shown it.
