I love the-coli :russ:

And oh yea, Bean keeping it 100 as usual, it's not just the trash-talking per se it's more the whole "we're all friends" vibe that kind of lowers competition in this day and time imo. I'm watching 90s clips on Youtube and that shyt is INTENSE :whew:

Sports writers sometimes say this same bullshyt. They want players to "hate" each other on the court, but the moment dudes start fighting they the first ones to talk about players being out of control thugs.

A couple of things...

B) The NBA is puzzified and controlled after the malice in the palace incident. There's so much scrutiny. Players cant so much as glance at each other the wrong way w/ receiving a 5 game suspension. Kobe knows he's untouchable --- but for the majority of the league, they have to feel like they're constantly walking on egg shells. Look how big of a deal the Melo waiting for KG at the bus issue became. If that was Barkley in 1988 waiting for Laimbeer, nobody would have given a shyt, outside of seeing who was gunna get they ass kicked. NBA is a corporation. Not a league.

I agree with both of these.

Players can't taunt or even look at an opposing player sideways after a jam or block shot without getting a technical foul and fined. Anything more than a slap on the arm is grounds for a flagrant foul or another technical. And if something does go down on one end of the court, a player on the bench on the other side of the floor can't so much as step an inch over the sideline without being suspended for the 'intent to escalate the situation' or whatever the bullshyt reasoning.

So all those structures are put in place, but then the commentators, analysts, sportswriters want to talk about how the players are so soft and friendly these days, as if they aint the same ones that will blast them for showing a lack of composure once they get that tech or suspension :stopitslime:

Can't have it both ways. And its funny cuz once things do get "a little chippy" they'll go on and praise the refs for diffusing the situation early by handing out technical fouls and quick whistles. :smh:

A lot more "fire" in a friendly basketball game with your mans at the park or whatever, he's got a point specially for the first 82 games.
But it's understandable, if it's 82 fukking games. In baseball they stand around like flabby n sick friends playing golf and vibing in the sun.

First off, why are y'all assuming Kobe is mad?, he said this quote while laughing, just an observation, no need to jump to this "Kobe just old and bitter" rhetoric

Secondly, who fukking cares?. Well I and other fans of basketball care...trash talk actually creates rivalries, shows passion, and adds entertainment to the game...but yea who fukking cares...MJ, Bird, Magic, Barkley, Isiah, etc. all talked shyt and they were associated with basketball at its peak, same goes with 90's players such as AI, KG, Steph, etc...it's a welcomed part of the game...trash talking is the display of on-court emotion, I don't see how anyone can not care about that...Boston Vs. LA, Chi vs. Det would hardly be rivalries had it not been for trash talk, no need to pretend its just an unnecessary faction of the game just because Bron and his buddies don't do it

I think that's one aspect of the game thats missing that really goes unmentioned a lot of times. I was referred to when the "team-up" happened, but other than that, the league is too friendly now. It's too friendly without the talent to overcompensate. That's why these games aren't entertaining. There are no rivalries, no everyday competitiveness, no intensity. That's why the NBA is reaching to create them instead of just letting them form naturally.
