watched the video, feel like i could comfortably take one of these things in the fair one, but two might be pushing it. i would just have to get low and dodge the initial charge, probably with a lateral roll. then take the neck and snap his shyt up with my superior strength. easy work really. they probably kill people or animals that are already afraid of them, which i am not and never would be.

You're basically right, they got so big over there due to the lack of fellow alpha predators. A big cat, hippo, elephant, etc. would have no problem with them.

And people forget how quick these nikkas are. Lions might kill them first but they definitely dying if they get bit

Buffalos stand up to them but as soon as they get bit the other Komodos smell the blood and theyre like sharks on land stalking until it cant move anymore.

I think most creature will sense somethings off and they would just avoid each other mostly

Ya'all are way overrating the venom, it ain't all-powerful like that. The venom just lowers blood pressure and prevents clotting, helps send the victim into shock. The main weapon is them ripping huge chunks of flesh off and forcing the victim to bleed too much and go into shock, venom just an assist on that.

Most of the members of that family are relatively weak compared to Komodos. Even the #2 biggest one by weight, the water monitor, get up to 8 feet long but only weighs 1/4 of what a big Komodo weighs and eats snails and crabs and dead fish and such. Komodos are in a different class altogether compared to their relatives.

Yeah man, I caught a 5+ foot water monitor once (far skinnier and weaker than a Komodo), I had full control over its head and body and had the claws pointed down where it couldn't reach me...and it was still slapping the shyt out of me with its tail. Had these giant welts on both arms that lasted for days where the tail had gotten me.
