Ehhh....I loved the OG Mass Effect trilogy. I played MEA and I stopped like 5 hours in. I decided it was a waste of my time with so many good games out right now. My must-play backlog is huge. Currently I'm playing MK8D and Zelda, then I'm moving on to Horizon, then I'll finish Neir, then there's Yakuza 0, and Persona 5. To many great games for me to play this bullshyt. :manny:

development is hard.

I put in a little work on a project I have had in mind for about 3 years and still uneasy about it.

sounds like they never had a clear vision in the beginning, and they were just kinda 'winging it', hoping everything would just come together

shyt happens, but it's stupid that they just push this shyt out anyway

Posting to read later. Probably the only game from this gen I anticipated and was a no question cop. Finished it and was like "that's it???"

It was a good game.

Very good read BTW. EA didn't give Bioware the support it needed. It was destined to failed by not using the Edmonton, Austin and Montreal studios in unison, but opting to use the Montreal carry much of the load.

I'm not familiar with the video game development process, but, this game should have cancelled in 2015 and maybe picked back up once they settled down.

Do all games go through so much flux?

They promised as Mass Effect 1 on a new engine and I didn't think to stop say; what other games was this new engine used for? I think the reason as many casual ME fans like it was much is because it plays like Gears of War. All the combats elements are crisp, but, damn I miss squad commands.

I'm playing DA:Inq and that thing where you pause, would have been perfect for ME:A.

I find it interesting the response to the ending of the trilogy is never mentioned. I'm sure, good or bad, they'd want to move on. But, this is an example of; the audience dictates business, not art. A Contact War game, atleast one that they can test a new engine on, would have been perfect and separate from Shepard.

The writing is just as bad as the little bit of time they spent on it. And they thought they were slick placing a bunch on cliffhangers (DLC) to fill in later.

I don't wanna hear anyone talk about how great this game is despite the reviews. They were in a mess.

I legit can't see them making another Mass Effect game. And I don't want one after EVERY ONE responsible for the greatest of the trilogy is split up or gone. Like, just Mac Walters and that's supposed to be enough?

For the fourth Mass Effect, BioWare wanted a fresh start. Rather than develop a Mass Effect 4 at the studio’s main headquarters in Edmonton, which had made the first three games, BioWare decided to put its Montreal studio in charge.

Casey Hudson, executive producer on the main trilogy, would start a new team at BioWare Edmonton to work on a brand new intellectual property, which they gave the code-name Dylan. (That new IP’s code-name, a source said, came because Hudson and team wanted to make the Bob Dylan of video games—one that would be referenced for years to come.)

Meanwhile, BioWare Montreal, which was founded in 2009 to develop downloadable content like Mass Effect 3’s Omega expansion, would lead production on the next Mass Effect.

i.e. Let's put our full weight on a brand new project, because, all we have to do call this sequel Mass Effect and we already got millions of fans in the bag--give it to the (DL)C team

There are a lot of gems in this article. It's a must read. I wonder if other studios using Frostbite run into the same issues. I thought using Frostbite as middleware would help them when in reality they had to build shyt from scratch. :mjlol:

Conflicts emerged between BioWare staffers at the company’s two main studios, in Edmonton and Montreal. Developers in Edmonton said they thought the game was floundering in pre-production and didn’t have a strong enough vision, while developers in Montreal thought that Edmonton was trying to sabotage them, taking ideas and staff from Montreal for its own projects, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dylan.

The DA:I and ME:A parallels. :hhh:

One early idea was to develop a prequel to Mass Effect, set during the First Contact Wars of the series’ lore, when the humans of Mass Effect’s galaxy had interacted with aliens for the first time.

:snoop:

PERFECT EXPLORATION SETTING

They could have done so much with this. No Reapers, no ancient aliens bullshyt but actual exploration and discovery.:beli:

:dame: Wasn't better than any of the OG trilogy IMO. I finished all three games multiple times but I only reached half way with this weak ass game.

Shame. Gameplay was probably the best but everything else seem to be poorly executed.
Truth right here.

I been completing the og trilogy since ME3 every year, now this garbage not even close. I did 2 planets and just put it down because it was so damn boring. Not even the piff gameplay could save this shyt. The enemt variety, shytty menu screens, scanning, very very bland teammates who u dont care about, the r&d bullshyt. There's more but damn how the fukk do u let imo one of the dopest franchises get treated like a Cosby rape victim?

I'm still playing it. I got a late start on it. I don't see what's so terrible about it. It's a solid game, no where near as bad as folks made it seem. But it's not as good as the originals I guess. I played through each of them once. Don't really remember them that fondly. :yeshrug:
And u my friend were the the target audience :francis:
