The whole point of my argument is that the standard of living should never suffer because of the price of artifically high rent. I don't care if you make 150k per year and own a few properties, the fact that more people are going under the poverty line due to rent is disturbing.
Rent is not artificially inflated...why don't you understand that. It's scarcity, if you got more people wanting to live in a place than the apartments available, the price will go up, when you add in people with high incomes and excess disposable income, that consumer then inflates the price even further. Damn near every home sale out here, people are
willing to pay 50-100k over asking for houses because they know there aren't enough homes in the place(s) they want to live and they can afford to pay more than what's asked. The seller did not set some artificial price, the consumer reacted to a perceived scarcity and set the price themselves. There are multiple forces at play that set real estate prices, to act like landlords just say "hey, I'm charging 2000 for a one bedroom" is a clear lack of understanding of the basic principles of economics. I know you all love to shun anyone whose goal is to make a profit, but you're ignoring economics to find a villain.
