Why would he even accept an interview if he wasn't interested? He already curved on Phil...

Same reason LMA listened to the free agency pitched and bounced...

Same reason LMA flew to Miami to kick it with Riley for a night when it was financially impossible for the heat to sign him to an 8 million dollar contract...let alone a max...

The same reason why at my job when a potential customer wants to buy some infrastructure from us and I know from jump street we are going to say no...but i get on the plane to fly first class...i stay at a 5 star hotel...and i order 150 dollar ribeye steaks anyway...

Lamarcus gave us 2 meetings, I think that speaks volumes considering our roster.
Five days in free agency: Inside the courtship of LaMarcus Aldridge

"In the end though, Aldridge had to eliminate teams, and Toronto didn’t make the cut. As Aldridge moved to shorten his list and make a final decision, the Lakers called Arn Tellem and asked for a second chance. Kupchak and Scott wanted to have a short, streamlined, basketball-driven conversation. Aldridge agreed as a gesture of goodwill, but the Lakers had fallen out of consideration."

It makes perfect sense...because that is what he is going to do...he is going to listen to your pitch and then hit the :mjlol: and leave...

Remember how LMA treated the Lakers during free agency? Luke is going to do the same
Luke is a west coast guy and his other options are the Suns and Kings. If he doesn't take this job, he's probably content to be an assistant for a while. That doesn't even factor in his ties with the Lakers, plus he'd probably have some pull with Festus and Barnes in the summer.

Take Festus and Barnes out of this offensive and it will not be good...Barnes has been bad for stretches in this offense...where teams sometimes decide he is the odd man out and just don't guard him at all...

I don't think Luke is going to go from perennial championship runs to trying to rebuild a lakers team starting over from scratch...I think what he does is stay in GS until a playoff level team job opens up and then he goes there...

Luke loves LA, and why would he want to be an assistant when he can be the head guy for one of the most prestigious franchises in sports history?..for someone with interest in coaching its a no-brainer. dude is 37, I doubt he's pressed to start contending immediately. either way its a win/win, if Luke doesn't come where targeting messina :win:

Playoff level teams generally don't have vacancies unless there's something fundamentally wrong like Chicago or Houston (Golden State was an anamoly).

The Lakers have some young pieces with potential, $60 million in cap space and potentially a top three pick. Festus and Barnes aren't guys to put a team over the top (I think GS is matching just about anything on Barnes regardless), just two guys that can be solid contributors on a contending team. LA has holes everywhere, so almost anybody who can play is helpful. No one on the Lakers knows how to win and those guys are on a championship team. That counts for something.

:ehh: Fair points.

I don't know about GS and Barnes...Curry max is coming up...Iggy contract is coming up...Bogut contract is coming up...the cap is rising but it's not rising THAT fast...and I also think teams are going to go after their players just to try and knock GS down a peg...the same way teams go after Spurs coaches and front office people to try and knock them down a peg...because the spurs can't loose assistant coaches and front office people to other teams every year and still keep having the best staff and the best front office in the league every year...right?

Somebody is going to do to GS with Barnes what Portland did to OKC with Kanter...throw the max at him just so GS has to spend the money on that and not something else...

I don't think he's the right coach for a rebuilding team. Warriors are a well oiled machine. You'd have to actively try to sabotage it to fukk that situation up.
This. The thing alot of people are disregarding about the Warriors is they're about as selfless, non-egotistical and self-motivated team there is. They already had the system in place that they knew works, and all they needed to do was execute. If any team in NBA history could coach themselves it'd be them.

I was pretty much saying these exact same things a week ago and you were disagreeing with me. :francis:

Particurlarly going after anybody that can play, the little Derozan/Barnes disagreement in the Lakers off-season thread. You didn't like Barnes for the Lakers.
Not at max money, but I'm not against Barnes for the right price.

I said "almost anybody" that can play to cover myself from Derozan support. :umad:
