The NFL MVP award is voted on by
a panel of 50 sportswriters and broadcasters who regularly cover the league, selected by the Associated Press (AP).

:beli:

What, have they been unfair to lamar after his 4 TDs, 5 picks, 5 fumbles and being out with a mfin ‘back’ injury??

Naaaah brotha. Plus we did this the last time lamar had a contract come up. Buddy be sandbagging protecting himself. 50% of Lamar running Ja still a too 5 mobile QB. But he be out there refusing to run. Nah they’ve covered him exactly how they supposed to and they actually been light bc they have NOT mentioned what I just did
Lamar has obviously not been healthy this season. Even he gets it that with losing comes criticism, but people are questioning his leadership and work habits all of a sudden. So he won 2 MVPs and has been a 3x All Pro First team just off natural ability?

That’s kinda the point. Sports discourse is at its most irrational and nitpicking and ‘what have you done for me lately’….oh but when it’s Lamar it’s ‘hey hey hey let’s be rational :whoa:

Lamar is being judged just as harshly and with a fine tooth comb like anyone else

Lastly, if you want to be appreciated for your past accomplishments and be removed from criticism….retire. :yeshrug:

Josh Allen literally missed an open WR against the Eagles on Sunday and the biggest criticism was that the HC went for it not that Josh botched the throw. A few weeks ago, Burrow threw one of the worst pick sixes I've ever seen and the next few days were about how depressed he sounds and how the Bengals failed him rather than how he's missed the playoffs for the 3rd straight season while openly demanding the team paid both of his WRs. Burrow gets whatever he wants from the Bengals.

Lamar has been hurt multiple times this year and people are claiming he's faking it to the point he had to address it at a press conference. They're criticizing him for not healing fast enough for their liking. A reporter that apparently everyone in Baltimore knows is bogus got his fake story pushed by Nick Wright. It's different.

Two things can be true:

People give Lamar extra shyt because he is black. There is no way around this. I dont care what anyone else says or does, I am holding Burrow and Allen to the same standard.

This year, he has not performed and been unavailable far too often. He has been gifted a week division, he gotta deliver this weekend. Burrow already out so I bet not hear shyt about him unless we giving him his deserved heat for that.

Yeah, that was crazy. The coaching staff dialed up a winning play and people were mad at a coach that the reigning MVP missed a routine throw. Plus the Bills kicker, the "Money Badger" isn't money at all..

Joe Burrow hasn't made the playoffs in the last 3 seasons. The media response is it's the Bengals fault for not getting him help.

Jared Goff has had disastrous finishes the last two seasons. The media response is silence.

Herbert had a 4 int playoff loss at home. The media was again silent.

Where are the reports questioning their leadership and maturity?

"You just have to win." Russ got those reports a year after winning a Super Bowl. Hurts is getting them after a Super Bowl win. Mahomes ran it up so much they can't get at him this season but they're waiting to try it.

They fall back on the same old stereotypes. Falling asleep in meetings, playing video games all night, can't lead, etc are all just dog whistling. Might as well just call him lazy and stupid.

Burrow you definitely have a point. But no one puts Goff or Herbert in Jackson's category. Almost everyone considers him way better than those QBs. It's not the same.
I don't get you guys tho, yes racism exists and isn't going anywhere. The white QBs will always get the benefit of the doubt over Black ones. Acting like, "It's not fair!". Der, that’s just life in America as a Black man, you gotta take the slings and arrows and get it done anyway. As good as Lamar is and the talent on some of the teams he took to the playoffs he should have at least made the SB by now. He's that good and he hasn't. That's going to bring criticism fair or not.

The hatred for him stems from many in the league and media believing he should've been a WR, and getting their QB evaluation horribly wrong. The goal post has been constantly moving for him ever since as people try to find some secret escape route into being right about him. I saw the same shyt happen with Cam Newton. Those who thought Locker and Blaine were better, spent the entirety of Cam's career looking for a reason to be right about their eval, instead of accepting they were flat out wrong.

Great post, but JHerbert has never played a home playoff game.

In all honesty, the dude is an all time talent. But in the playoffs, he hasnt done enough for his team to win it.

He hasnt overcome turnovers, or whatever else weird shyt happens in playoffs games to make it happen.

Your always left with, damn he couldve did more.

And yes the racism is prevalent but his stats are insane and he passes the eye test with flying colors.

The shyt just hasnt clicked when it matters.

Is it weird and could he have done more? It seems like defensive coordinators are more focused on exploiting his weaknesses in the playoffs.

We don't have to just "take the slings and arrows." You saw what Swagu did? That's what every black man in sports media should be doing. Call out the BS and shut it down. Ryan Clark has been getting at Burrow for 3 seasons. Maybe Chris Canty too but it's crickets with white analysts. There's enough of us in NFL media to balance out the talking points.

I don't care if the criticism is fair but acting like Lamar is playing video games all night when he had one of the greatest statistical seasons in history last year is obviously an agenda with no merit.

Can't use the Herbert and Goff not being as good as Lamar excuse. Lions were a contender and a rookie came in and outperformed Goff. Herbert has been considered the prototype QB since his rookie season and hasn't won a playoff game. Whiteness is the only reason they don't get the criticism.

Russ was playing when Brady, Manning, and Rodgers were still elite and had to deal with a "his teammates didn't think he's back enough" report as the start of defending Seattle's championship. He wasn't some elite QB or an MVP.

Caleb had that report that dropped before this season. One year into his career and they already had the hit piece ready.

Cam was dealing with that his whole career.

All you are saying is the obvious. The media is generally racist and biased against Black people in comparison to white people. We all know this. And newsflash, it's not changing anytime soon.
