What else is he known for? Other little roles here and there.
True but the interviewer is supposed to know basic things about the interviewed it's no secret that Demond didn't fukk with Redd he wasn't on the other Sanford show.

It was sort of how the dude who played James Evans Sr. felt both typecasted and thought the character and the show was beneath them ( he was also a theater actor) and upstaged by a comedian.

Frankly it would riled up Demond to ask him about Redd.

If it was supposed to be a comedic interview that's one thing but I don't think he would've taken part.

Not very christian to demean a breh when he can’t snap back smfh
The interviewer is terrible tho. He didn't do not one ounce of homework whatsoever. How did he not know that Dedmon left acting & Hollywood to go preach? That's common knowledge. He seemed to also not know that Redd was always on one and refused to pay his taxes and acted upset that Dedmon didn't help him.

Man, miss me with that.

Redd Foxx didn't get on until he was OLD. You see how old he was on Sanford and Son. Of course he's gonna feel a way about toiling underground for decades and then finally getting on. Of course he's not going to want to give away half his money in taxes.

Lamont was probably like 27-28 when he got on. He's honestly out of place to say squat about Redd

Redd Foxx been in the game decades before Sanford & Son aired breh. He was the Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy of his generation. He laid a lot of the groundwork and blueprint for stand up comedians til this day. Sandford & Son and later hangin with Eddie Murphy and doing Harlem Nights was actually the twilight of his career.

No disagreement about holding people accountable and Red Foxx. It just the way he spoke to this reporter. You can correct people lovingly. Especially being a minister or pastor or whatever he is.

Maybe Lamont didn't wanna be fake... he came from my grandmother's generation and even she always kept it real. I read up that Lamont was upset at Redd for not informing him about his dispute. Him and Foxx were making history with that show and saw the effect it was going to have for generations to come.

In those times, Black Entertainers had to work twice as hard and take advantage of the opportunities wisely.

Redd Foxx had a lot of sycophants around him who weren't asset to him. A real friend would have been telling him the truth in private.

I know he was around breh, but he wasn't poppin really. Alot of his stabdup didn't get popular until after Sanford and son was on. That's when ppl became shocked at how dirty his stand-up jokes were.

Not about being fake. Someone reached out to you for an interview. If you don't want to do it, fine. But don't accept it and then come on with an attitude.

As a minister, you should know how to correct ppl lovingly

He says this in so many ways.
Demand got caught up in adulting the interviewer in ol school nlack nationalism.
from how this is cut.
Demand basically says he was a kid looking up to them and not at liberty to throw weight around. The message got lost because Demond got into to his adulting outside the cloth minister bag with the interviewer.

The more I think about this, it shows Lamont is a hater by his comments. Maybe they had a personal beef.

Redd got on Sanford and Son and then eventually brought on Esther, Grady, Bubba, Leroy, Skillet, Mr Miyagi a few others .....you think the white producers , A. Knew who ANY of them were? and B. Wanted them on there?

I highly doubt it...

These were FRIENDS he did the Chiltin circuit with. Redd had to fight for them. He helped alot of ppl...so for Lamont to say Redd was sending a stray at him by saying, "someone should help him", after Sanford had been off for 10-12yrs, I think he's just being a hater.

But Someone did help, and it was Eddie Murphy when he did Harlem Nights. Because Eddie did similar to what Redd did and he brought on ppl who inspired him. Martin Lawrence did that with Esther when he got his show, and if Redd was still alive I promise you Martin would have brought him on.

For all Lamonts talk about being "from the old school", well, old school Black ppl used to look out for each other. And that's what Redd did for his friends

I feel this was more cultural and age disconnect In Adulting styles.

You got sinned like that. If you were unprepared like the interviewer back in the day.

Hiphop culture as a bboy you know to step in a room prepared to show and prove. This guy never did and got to interview a black legend
with no pride or preparation a s journalist and consumer report specialist.

Things like preparedness were essentially stressed and distinctly expressed

in the old era for a shot like this of Any experience as a journalist or indie contractor.

The guy who trained third bass stressed this sort of preparedness a s a constant in out era. If anyone is looking for example of preparedness culturally in jiphop. The interview with search on math Hoffa went into this indepthly as well on vlad.

do not let them take pedigree and lesson from you via misappropriation. Then lose sight of that skill taken from you via misappropriation.

Show and prove black man.
Show and prove.
