Me neither

Redd purposely didn’t pay his taxes

Solid dude.

Good interview :ehh:

He's old school, all about accountability, not about all this get along to go along shyt.

This ain’t it. That type of bitterness and robotic heartless viewpoint ain’t ‘old school’ and it ain’t the goal especially when you his age. That ngga weak

If you think anything about this is admirable you a goofy. Nggas got time tho, get your shyt together :hhh:

The more I think about this, it shows Lamont is a hater by his comments. Maybe they had a personal beef.

Redd got on Sanford and Son and then eventually brought on Esther, Grady, Bubba, Leroy, Skillet, Mr Miyagi a few others .....you think the white producers , A. Knew who ANY of them were? and B. Wanted them on there?

I highly doubt it...

These were FRIENDS he did the Chiltin circuit with. Redd had to fight for them. He helped alot of ppl...so for Lamont to say Redd was sending a stray at him by saying, "someone should help him", after Sanford had been off for 10-12yrs, I think he's just being a hater.

But Someone did help, and it was Eddie Murphy when he did Harlem Nights. Because Eddie did similar to what Redd did and he brought on ppl who inspired him. Martin Lawrence did that with Esther when he got his show, and if Redd was still alive I promise you Martin would have brought him on.

For all Lamonts talk about being "from the old school", well, old school Black ppl used to look out for each other. And that's what Redd did for his friends

that reminds me of what kid from kid and play said. he salt and pepa, and martin used to work together before they got famous, and when salt and pepa got on, they put him and play on. and when they got on, they put martin on. that seemed to be a thing for up and coming black artists back in the day

Maybe Lamont didn't wanna be fake... he came from my grandmother's generation and even she always kept it real. I read up that Lamont was upset at Redd for not informing him about his dispute. Him and Foxx were making history with that show and saw the effect it was going to have for generations to come.

In those times, Black Entertainers had to work twice as hard and take advantage of the opportunities wisely.

Redd Foxx had a lot of sycophants around him who weren't asset to him. A real friend would have been telling him the truth in private.
Sure thats possible

Helping people has nothing to do with not paying taxes, though. When Hammer had tax problems, he and his biggest fans used the same smokescreen. "Hammer had one third of Oakland on his payroll, that's why he went broke" No. He spent too much money, and it caught up to him when he wasn't generating the huge amounts from before.

Performers paying homage to, and helping their influences or peers to make a living is a great thing. Foxx did it, and as you pointed out Eddie Murphy did it. He saw the natural chemistry between Foxx and Della Reese's characters in Harlem Nights, and used his leverage to get them a tv show playing similar characters. He was helping Foxx work his way out of the tax hole. Hole that he dug himself into.

Eddie Murphy wasn't going to write a check to payoff Foxx's debt, so I'm not sure what people expected Demond Wilson to do.

I like how he called out the host for not doing proper research lol. He was trying to get certain clips to go viral but he got other stuff that still may go viral, but nobody expected “Lamont” to say. shyts funny to me lol. Sanford and Son is one of my favorite shows but I appreciate his perspective on Redd and that time.

I can respect Demond for being a straight shooter. He sugarcoats nothing and I like how he's keeping the same energy from his first interview. :russ:

I was a little shocked when he was :yeshrug:over Redd dying, but it doesn't seem like they were ever friends, just coworkers. But he never had a cross word to say about Redd, he can't stress that enough.
