I really enjoyed this season, kinda wish they continue following them and beam once the Corona shyt ever passes over

Dior is someone you root for, dude got issues but if his talent could match his grit and determination he would be all pro. Idk how he managed to go to school, practice/play football and work the close shift at Wingstop, all while being basically homeless.

As an Islander Nu'u is your typical Islander, he's not dumb as rocks but dude can't be fukked doing the school work. Alot of Islanders (including myself) struggle with drive I'm certain points of life. He's very fortunate to have a very supportive family on both sides who are willing to help where they can with the kids. But come on breh, the rough draft debacle made me go :comeon: cause from just glancing over it, it didn't seem the most hardest assignment and it was a ROUGH DRAFT

You know the producers at Netflix were :shaq: once they found out who RJ grandparents

Rej seems like he got mad talent and the size to maybe make noise in the pros, but he may be humbled once he makes that jump to the next level of college ball

I enjoyed this season..... The gift and the curse of this show is that they don't know how the season is going to transpire when they start recording so they gotta just roll with it. Enjoyed the coach, he was the right blend of nice guy and hard ass. Dior dad was an a$$hole, RJ grandparents were on some pedophile shyt, Rej and his fam was entertaining, especially his grandpa. And it was good to see how gentrification is effecting that area. I hope they get a season 2 and some good recruits but with no dorms or scholarships how they hell are they supposed to recruit?

I was posting in the wrong thread :snoop:

I just finished this season. I really enjoyed it. They should've been showcasing a coach like John Beam since the beginning. This dude comes across as what a JUCO coach should be. I'm really pulling for Dior to make it in D1 or the NFL. Nu got a real one for a wife too.

The stadium for most of Laney's games seemed empty. I guess the charm of JUCO football in the midwest/south is that these small communities rally around the football program. That seemed to be the only thing missing this season.

Yeah that passion was zero.

Maybe because Laney is in a major city...but still. Of course here in Texas, you have middle school games with more people. The fans were very supportive, but I was surprised by the turnout. That seemed to be the case for every game, home and away.

Rej needs to put on 10-15 lbs. Being tall and lanky, I feel like really quick/sharp route runners would give him problems while big/strong receivers would manhandle him. He's tall and athletic, which is enough for JUCO, especially with bad QBs. Once he's going against more talented players, I think he's going to have a bit of a learning curve.

Rej got the talent and physical attributes but the big question mark is whether he can humble himself to improve. He’s definitely gonna have some rough games at Oregon State so it just comes down to is he gonna keep working on his craft or just keep talking.

I felt bad for dude at first but stopped once they showed him doing the same shyt over and over despite the head coach constantly telling him to do something else. It was fukking frustrating.
See but the thing is the coach kept saying “you’ve been here forever why’ve you not learned a route” well one why is he still on the team? Answer is because they need the bodies. More importantly if he still doing the same shyt for year 3-4 that means the teaching is failing somewhere. He was arguably the second best WR. Needs to be used in slot. That’s where white WRs make they pay.

Just got done watching this whole thing. As a breh from the town it was a great watch and depicted Oakland appropriately. Here's a few thoughts off the top of the head

  • It's crazy weird Fred on there, still can't believe he became a cop. I used to hoop with him and his brother and both was dogs even tho they was better at football...and both went into law enforcement
  • Coach Beam is a legend and is coo af and genuinely cares about the kids he coaches...personally I think he should've got out of Oakland years ago for greener pastures at a University but dude loves the city too much.
  • I felt bad for Dior, it's fukked up how in life some people get dealt such bad parents. I admire his perseverance tho and hope he makes it in Hawaii so he can get a degree and be financially secure.

  • I love how the showed the changes that Oakland is going through and they're spot on

  • Rey might be cocky af but the fact that he drives from Stockton to Oakland and back every day shows he's committed to getting to the NFL. I know plenty of folk that wouldn't do that even if they had the means to it.

  • RJ had an interesting background...even tho he was a selfish player I respect he was humble enough to call schools personally to try to get on a team

Also....compared to the EMCC and Independence kids, the ones here don't seem "poor."

Rej family lives pretty well....now at least.

Dior looks like he grew up financially comfortable but had a psycho dad.

RJs family is well to do but they are all rapey/pedophile alcoholics.

Nu'u and his girl would probably be OK but 2 kids costs $$$. Otherwise they'd look middle class.

EMCC/Independence had straight up broke people while this season has people with really weird home situations.

Rej mom said she struggled while waiting 12 years to be a longshoremen. Seems like she’s just now seeing the fruits

Dior dad kicked him out to live in Arky with his mom

Nu’u is living with his in laws and their sister. He also said they don’t have any money for everything and was debating getting a job to have money
