UPDATE: 2 Years Later
With the NCAA announcing today's suspension and fine of James Wiseman, Lavar Ball laying the foundation for LaMelo to play overseas while still in high school and get paid handsomely for his talents is looking brilliant.

If Wiseman went pro overseas during his junior or senior year, he would have been able to pay the $11k needed to move his family himself. Now he is at the mercy of an unjust and racist governing body, wishing that he had someone like Lavar in his corner.

Darius Bazely had Rich Paul in his corner and he walked into the draft set financially thanks to New Balance, not needing to play competitively anywhere for a year as opposed to playing for free while lining Jim Boeheim's pockets in the process.
Ant Simons had his pops Charles in his corner (a Penny stan from Orlando who loved Blue Chips so much that he named his son after him) who made Simons play up in age in AAU, had him graduate a year early then go to IMG for a post grad year. By him exploiting the year removed from high school graduation loophole, he was able to get his son to the league without playing in the NCAA for free.

if you don't control your own fate, then someone else will. Gotta salute Lavar for making LaMelo rich without ever needing an NCAA scholarship or an NBA check. Said fukk the NCAA and Melo is still in consideration for the #1 pick in the NBA draft.
