That makes zero sense. If you want your stat sheet to look pretty and your team is winning for the most part I don't see what's wrong with it. However, if everyone else is struggling and you need to carry the team, then by all means shoot until your arms fall off. But who the hell goes out every single night saying oh I'm gonna do what I want regardless of what my stat sheet looks like?

All players are cognizant of their fg%, even Kobe. There are two main approaches to a bad shooting night, trying to gun and shoot yourself out of it, or realizing its not your night and looking for hotter shooting teammates. Wade and LeBron were saying they're in the latter.

If you wanna take that angle, then a certain portion of his stats are meaningless too - there's lil difference him protecting his FG%, getting boards and assists to balance out the box score than there is with him going out there looking to score 90% of the game.
