And for the record: MJ's All-Defensive 1st Team selection that season was purely on reputation and nothing more. He wasn't even guarding the opposition's best perimeter threat at that age. Nobody should be using that in argument against LeBron.

FOH, even at 34 He wasn't as garbage as LeBron is on defense this year. If LeBron fell back on puffing up his stats, he would be able to play better defense.

I never seen Jordan walk back on defense as much I have LeBron this year.

Pippen and Harper both took on larger defensive reps to allow MJ to conserve energy on offense. Plus, he had Rodman too (while overrated on that end at that stage of his career, was still a difference maker on defense).

Pippen and Harper didn't feel the need to run out the backdoor like Kyrie did, ask yourself why?

Yeah yeah yeah.....stay salty.
What exactly am I salty over? Please do tell.

All I know is at 35 years old, in his 9th season of playing 82 games, and after playing the most combined minutes of his career, MJ's final game winning shot to end his Bulls career came on the heels of a defensive play.
And that proves what exactly?

MJ had the luxury of picking his spots (LeBron doesn't to the same degree) - it wasn't as if he was busting his ass all throughout that series on the defensive end - that's what Pippen and the role players were there for. This mythologization of the man has to stop, at some point, y'all have to view his game for what it was; warts and all.
You're trying to shyt on MJ's declining defensive abilities while we're talking about Brown's defensive effort.
I'm not trying to "shyt" on his declining defensive abilities, I'm simply saying it's unfair to use an exaggeration of MJ's state at that time to tear down LeBron. LeBron should be criticized for his defensive play this season, make no mistake about it, but that doesn't mean we should be using MJ at the same age as a scale.
So even if MJ ability declined, his effort was always there, word to Karl Malone.
All depends on what you mean by his effort "always" being there, since his roles/reps were tapered so he could conserve energy for offense.

:heh:

None of what you posted invalidates what I said. MJ's All-Defensive 1st Team selection that season should not be used against LeBron.

May I ask what the hell that has to do with what I posted?

This is what I been saying on here. Bron is no longer capable of being a good defender guarding wing players at his age and weight. Especially while doing what he does on offense. He's an average to poor defender most of the time:manny: He needs a Pippen and Harper to carry him defensively or as I said in another thread a bruce bowen type. Maybe if he didn't force the cavs to give out bad contracts they would have that guy:hubie: And one of the main reasons the cavs are so bad defensively is they got two pfs playing minutes out of position. Love can't handle centers and bron can't guard wings:snoop:
I still think he's capable of being a good defender, but he has to sacrifice his #s on the offensive end (which we all know he's not doing anytime soon). My point is basically around the fact that it's fine to criticize him for shyt that he's guilty of doing/not doing, but it's NOT fine to use x-player as a reference point, when x-player didn't have to deal with the same workload at the same age.

There's no "maybe" about it, MJ didn't deserve it based on ability/defensive play during that season.

Here's the thing - MJ had the luxury of having great defensive guards/wings to shoulder the majority of the reps, as he was no longer capable of playing elite defense, and so he could conserve energy for offense; LeBron doesn't have that luxury (whether that's from his own doing is irrelevant). It's fine to criticize LeBron's defense in a frame of its own, but don't use MJ as a scale as if he went through the same circumstances.

Basically, it's unfair to LeBron to compare him to a version(s) of MJ that didn't exist.

PIPPEN PLAYED 44 GAMES IN 98
AND WAS HOBBLED ALL YEAR...
BULLS WON 62 GAMES...

WHAT LUXURY DID JORDAN HAVE THAT SEASON?

THAT 98 SEASON WAS HIS MOST IMPRESSIVE SEASON.

HE WILLED THE BULLS TO A TITLE.
