Mj went to the line just as much as harden and Kd
All great scorers get to the stripe
And mj can try whatever he wants Kd is nearly 7 feet tall and will just shoot over top of him the same way bird did when they were matched up

you didn't answer my question, are we talking 90's NBA or 2018 NBA (no defense allowed)?

:whoa:

Just simply pointing out it's unfair to use that particular talking point against him.
Bron too busy making celebration handshakes with his teammates.

Jordan wasn't afraid to put hands on teammates, and when he did, they performed better.

I bet not even Scottie Pippen was ever over Jordan's house, but when they were on that court, you'd think they were brothers.

LeBron's idea of being hard on a teammate is telling him the team needs them

There's no "maybe" about it, MJ didn't deserve it based on ability/defensive play during that season.

How do you make statements like that without any sort of proof?

Players Defense

He was top 10 in defensive win shares that year.

Sure Lebron has got the mileage, but it was his choice to 82 games this year :yeshrug:

The fact that he never gets back on defense after his own misses and sometimes after other players misses shouldn't be ignored. Isnt there a saying bout how its negative 4 pts to miss and let your matchup score in transition?

And think about how it effects the mentality of his teammates to see him do that. They don't have Steven Adams or Andre Roberson to sprint back while Lebron is bytching about a no-call like Russell does. Gotta lead by example.

Lebron is a ghost in defense. Anybody can go right through him for a layup or can easily come off a screen to shoot an open jumper when they are defended by Lebron. These are the details of one Lebron's weaknesses that doesn't get mention on a scout report, and sport commentators don't even bring this up when they are discussing Lebron's godly career stats. Lue should be holding Lebron accountable for being lazy on defense.

What exactly am I salty over? Please do tell.

And that proves what exactly?

MJ had the luxury of picking his spots (LeBron doesn't to the same degree) - it wasn't as if he was busting his ass all throughout that series on the defensive end - that's what Pippen and the role players were there for. This mythologization of the man has to stop, at some point, y'all have to view his game for what it was; warts and all.

I'm not trying to "shyt" on his declining defensive abilities, I'm simply saying it's unfair to use an exaggeration of MJ's state at that time to tear down LeBron. LeBron should be criticized for his defensive play this season, make no mistake about it, but that doesn't mean we should be using MJ at the same age as a scale.

All depends on what you mean by his effort "always" being there, since his roles/reps were tapered so he could conserve energy for offense.

:manny:

I'm convinced you didn't watch MJ play

And I'm not willing to give Bron the "mileage" excuse either. MJ was the oldest player in the top 10 and you had to go 90 players deep before you found another perimeter player older than him on that list. I'm thoroughly convinced these dudes did not watch MJ play.
