LeBron slow? No first step? Consider ...We've seen dozens of LeBron chasedown blocks ... but I don't remember ever seeing LeBron chased down ...

LeBron runs a 4.6 which is fast for a 260 lb person playing basketball.... it's slow for a WR in the NFL.

TS really tried to say that Lebron is just as fast as Calvin Johnson

think in terms of football, not basketball.

LeBron would be a TE and a matchup nightmare. TE's don't have to have WR speed because they run mostly short to intermediate routes. It isn't like would be a split end.

He could never play football though because he's afraid to get hit and those NFL players would f**k up his legs.

edit: and if he wanted more speed, he could drop to 240lbs.

Bron flops once a game and embellishes damn near every call, but yet he could just transform tomorrow and start going over the middle against dudes that have been hitting people for most of their lives.

He was an all-state receiver, it's not exactly like we're talking about someone that had zero football background.

We're talking a dude who played football for 2 years in HS, and people swearing cause he does amazing shyt on a basketball court, means he can do amazing shyt on a football field....him being good in HS playing against kids he was far larger than≠ he'd be just as dominant playing against the best athletes in the world at the highest level of football.

Nobody would ever take me seriously if i ever posed that Calvin Johnson could be the GOAT NBA player, cause he runs a 4.3 is really strong, can jump high and is the best NFL player.

The thing is, Calvin Johnson is below average size for an NBA player, by comparison LeBron is bigger than the average football player. And Calvin wasn't a all-state level basketball player, so your comparison wouldn't make sense.

I don't think it's a stretch to say he could have ended up in the NFL. He is an elite athlete, 6'8" 250-260 with a 40-42" leap (not a vert), he ran a 4.45 in HS as well. He has a football background and is a special athlete under any lense and we have success stories of basketball players being converted to top level football players, not vice versa.

it's supposed to be absurd and not make sense...... cause apparently to all of these people, being able to be great in the NFL, consists of nothing more than jumping high, being tall and being elite at basketball.

Cause Antonio Gates ( who would've played college football at MSU) and Jimmy Graham ( who played at Miami) are the only success stories, LeBron is supposed to be be the GOAT WR cause of that?

it's one thing to say LeBron could've ended up in the NFL, it's a complete other to even pose that he'd be the greatest ever....simply cause of how well he plays basketball.

He's not as fast as he used to be, almost everyone on here says he's lost a step and he's still running a 4.6 @ 260lbs?

I'm not saying he could have been a GOAT, he could have possibly made it to the NFL though, people his size with his speed don't come a long very often. All you have to do is compare him athletically to tight ends in the NFL, at his absolute physical peak (2007-2009) he would be the most athletic person at that position by a wide margin.

athletically Vernon Davis>LeBron

4.38 speed, lineman strength, 40"+ vertical.

the only thing is that he'd be taller and possibly weigh 5 lbs more.

A 40" vertical on someone 6'3" isn't quite the same as a 40" leap on someone 6'8", just off simple math Bron's max vertical reach is in the 12'2"-12"4 range, that would probably be the highest in the NFL.

Just for the sake of scale, Russell Westbrook is the same height as Davis (obviously he's not as muscular) -

I don't think you're really taking into account how rare it is for someone to be his height + weight with his athleticism. And I don't think Bron is the greatest pure athlete of all time, he's in the discussion for it though (as far as team sports go).

Thats because basketball requires a much larger and more specialized skillset. Football does not.

This is why I hate ESPN sometimes. THey get bored and start talking about "what ifs". I was at a restaurant having dinner earlier today and as i waited for our table i saw ESPN having a entire 5-10 minute segment about how good Lebron would be had he played in the NFL. They even had :comeon: in the piece giving his opinion.

Yup. They are scraping up all the scraps they can right now. Just wait until CFB and the NFL start shyt all these silly little stories will disappear and it's gonna be all football all the time until the NBA season starts.

As far as Lebron playing football I think it's a bit hyperbolic to say he can seamlessly transition tomorrow and become GOAT however if he had stuck with football or made the transition in his early 20's I don't see any reason why he wouldn't beast in the NFL. The only issue would be the higher chance of injury. With his vision and instincts and passing ability (obviously there's a difference) I wonder what kind of QB he could have been had he put his mind to it. Somebody said something about him being an end. That would have been a sight to see as well. All that said I think he made the right choice.

What are you basing "more specialized" on? You can't really make that claim for any sport, because every sport requires an extremely specialized skillset. The skills that Calvin Johnson displays playing wideout is just as vast as the skills a nba player has playing basketball. Body control, hip movement, catching, controlling the pace of your stride on routes, deceiving a DB, hand placement/movement, etc. There is a lot of skill that every football player has that takes practice to master. They aren't just going out there and playing backyard football.

Much large skillset, maybe... But more specialized? not necessarily...
