96 Bulls? 01 Lakers? I don't agree at all...Half of that 96 Bulls team was discardable to say the least and the 01 Lakers had role players who were super dependable. That's like calling a Spurs squad a super team simply because they bought into and executed winning basketball strategy

The Kyrie thing is debatable and at this point so is Love. What we know is Kyrie is great in the position he's in but has floundered mightily when asked to lead. We know Love has put up numbers but failed to get a decent Wolves squad to the playoffs

None of what you said about people beating around the bush with superteam's is true.
A superteam is when you have one of the best players in the league either joining a team, or forming a team with two other amazing players of at least all-star quality. More importantly, the "superteam" means it's a team above all other teams. So a super team is any team who when formed is viewed as the out-and-out favorite for basically as long as the squad stays together.

The arguments for why the 08 celtics weren't a superteam (although they tentatively were) and I remember all of this clearly, because my friend Cole is the biggest Celtic stan I know, and he kept us up to date daily on the Celtics until the playoffs, where he bet on them, we called him crazy, and he fukking destroyed and we all went apeshyt over guys like Leon Powe, or Perkins, or Big Baby Davis, or Brian Scalabrine.

The Celtics, weren't the favorites to win that year. None of those three players have ever been considered the greatest player in the league, or in the argument.
Kobe, meanwhile, greatest player in the league. Already had Shaq. Then they pick up two other former all-stars. Yeah they were old as fukk, but that doesn't negate the fact that the 04 lakers were obviously viewed as the above all favorites.

Cleveland Cavs/GSW - co-overwhelming favorites in both their respective conferences, GSW warriors are just better.

Meanwhile, I don't think when Clyde Drexler joined Barkley in Houston they were viewed as the league favorites.
With this definition, teams like the 60s Celtics, and the 70s Lakers were superteams.
80s Celtics-Lakers were superteams (the celtics themselves make this point, they had like 5 hall of famers and Bill Walton off the bench, but nobody wants to bring this up and say they should give their rings back...)

This is why an 08 celtics team, or a 2010s Clippers team, or a early 2010s Brooklyn Nets teams aren't super teams. They have marquee players, but none of them were ever considered the greatest player in the league. Additionally, they didn't form those squads on their own, which plays a factor into what a superteam is, because if you're the best player in the league, you generally get to pick which team you play for on some level.

Lebron saying he's never played for a superteam, is honestly so fukking funny. The way that guy views himself is a joke. Maybe the bad hair transplants went to his brain.

Bruh Kevin Garnett was arguably the best player in the league a few times and ray Allen was considered the greatest shooter for years plus Paul pierce was an all star. That's a super team

Even if all of those things are true eventually if you add enough pieces (in this case KD) the latter can be true as well
