NBA players still speaking with conditions. :mjpls:
NBA players are social media justice warriors. They don't agitate.
Oh look, reb's the first one in the thread, trivializing the cause into some NFL v. NBA enmity, as he always does. At your age, are you not embarrassed that you're drowning issues that are of actual importance in the pool of stan-wars? Are you not embarrassed that you're in every NBA-related thread staging this act, while you pull the curtains with the likes of Malcolm Jenkins with some "I saw what Jenkins did for my niece’s neighboring town in Camden. Not about to call him a c00n to satisfy you internet dudes posturing"?

:picard:

Ugh.

Said it yesterday and just said it again on First Take. He made great points and told no lies. I'll post the vid once it's up.

He basically said that if you throw your principals in the bushes because of financial ramifications the word for that is a sellout

He also said you can't Tweet "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" yet have a problem with Morey saying he wants freedom for the people of China.

Edit-

Part 1 from today's show

Part 2 from today's show

Max is full of shyt! You just couldn’t wait to talk bad about Bron. Why should Bron speak about Hong Kong? Because Morey did? But he backtracked and deleted his “fight for freedom” tweet. So why should Bron have to step in on a situation going on in another country?

Clown thought process. You hate wgat nfl did to kaep but i bet you use products from their sponsors too.
You keep bringing up Kap and the NFL. You're okay with a league blackballing someone for kneeling against injustice...I'm not okay with that. We can agree to disagree on your c00n mindset.

The problem isn’t LeBron taking a stand for them or not. The problem is he basically defended the Chinese government’s actions.

He really should have stayed out of this.

Explain to me how he did this? All I heard him say was he wasn’t informed enough on the situation to speak on it. How did u come to the conclusion that he defended China from that statement?

This post makes zero sense why would he call out Morey for being a sellout when he was the only one to speak up on the issue?

for the record I don’t blame Lebron for not wanting to F his money up but he should have said nothing and I would have understood

But to wait a week and have that kind of response is just dumb. LeBron’s smarter and usually more savvy then that.

Because he backtracked and deleted his tweet. That’s worse! If he really supports the freedom for Hong Kong why he backtrack? That’s because he was full of shyt just like all of the people now tryna shyt on Bron.

No one saying Bron should say anything about Hong Kong. They're saying either stfu or speak on the issue but don't get at Morey for supporting freedom.

These pundits wouldnt be pressuring athletes to speak out if China wasnt the US rival on the global scale

I’ve been saying this in the other thread, but this is what happens when people look to athletes and entertainers for leadership in social justice. It’s a very tiny minority of entertainers that can actually be that principled and that rooted in a cause.

It’s ok to commend LeBron or people like him for whatever gestures they make towards the cause. Outside of that they should be looked at for what they are which is people that can easily be compromised due to their business commitments.
agree 100% if an athlete speaks out on a social issue its a great thing (or not - see tim tebow on payment of college athletes :scust:)

but they dont have a responsibility to speak on every issue

Again LeBron, and other athletes, (even the ones who speak on domestic issues), should not have to speak up for the politics of every corner of the world. It makes perfect sense to be more knowledgeable about politics in your home country that you were born and raised in, that you live in daily, vs a foreign country that you don't even speak the language. Because you have an opinion on police brutality or Trump in America, you should also know about what's going on in Brazil, or South Africa, or Venezuela too? :stopitslime:

The only problem for me is LeBron sort of telling what someone should and should not be outraged about and trying to influence punishment for speaking up for a social issue. Last time I checked, Morey never said anything negative about LeBron speaking up for social causes that were important to LeBron. So who made LeBron the oppression commissioner to tell people what they shouldn't tweet?

He just should have just stayed out of it, because it wasn't about him in the first place.

Morey ain’t supporting shyt! He deleted his “support for freedom” tweet. Bron went at Morey for putting the players in that situation (how do y’all not understand this?). Now the players have to answer for something he should be speaking on. But I guess his “support for Hong Kong” isn’t that strong because he didn’t even stick to it
