They should have. His game was UGLY. Same with Larry Bird.

Its one of the main reasons Jordan surpassed them so quickly in popularity. People finally got to see what beautiful basketball was like when Jordan entered the league.
So only fancy dribbling and acrobatic dunks count and not Birds beautiful jump shot and LeBron esque passing.

If you don't play like Kobe, Jordan, T-Mac, Vince, Iverson, and Wade (to a lesser degree) then I have no desire to watch you play every night. I like to watch incredible skill paired with elite athleticism. That is beautiful basketball. All those guys had incredible explosiveness and body control when attacking the rim. They also had great skill level when they were playing on the perimeter.

What a narrow view of the game.

Only cause there ain't nobody else in the NBA worth watching right now.

Once a guy like Jalen Green comes into the league, he'll steal some of Zion's spotlight. Jalen Green is the best hope for the NBA when it comes to a player who will play like Jordan and Kobe moving forward.

What a narrow view of the game.

Narrow or not you know its true. The reason Jordan instantly became the most popular player in the NBA as a rookie was because of his breathtaking style of play. Nobody had seen that sort of athleticism and skill before in a 6'6" guard. It immediately set him apart and created his legend.

If Jordan was some ground-bound player who played like James Harden (for example) he would not be anywhere to close to as popular as he is now even if his numbers and accolades stayed the same. James Harden has put up monster numbers at Houston since he arrived there and he has never come close to being as popular as a guy like T-Mac in his height.

Style of play matters. When a player is not only great but also has an aesthetically pleasing game to watch, he will be incredibly popular and a must watch on TV.
