Are you a stan? Cause that's what I was alluding to. I respect LeBron as a basketball player. I'll watch him play when its a big game. But I can't bring myself to stan him cause his game simply doesn't have the same appeal guys like Kobe, Jordan, T-Mac, Iverson, Vince, and Wade had to me. I can go to YouTube and watch highlights of those guys for days. I can't do that with LeBron. His highlights simply don't have the same appeal.

And this isn't to single out LeBron. Almost all NBA players have unappealing/ugly games. Duncan was boring to watch. Same with Dirk and most other bigs. I personally hate the style of play of a Steph Curry. KD for as skilled as he is doesn't appeal much to me either. Same goes for Russell Westbrook eventhough I love watching him in the open court. James Harden has arguably the ugliest game of any NBA player I've ever seen. And so on. Bron isn't alone. What's rare in today's NBA is players with beautiful games. The only guy whose game I consider appealing is Kyrie. And even he doesn't play with the sort of elite athleticism the guys I named earlier played with so he's not exactly must watch TV to me. Ugly styles of play are what is common in today's NBA.
What constitutes a Stan?

you need both to be considered the greatest of all time. Basketball should be considered an art. There’s a reason why nobody calls Canabis the goat :hhh:
I'm not calling LeBron the GOAT, but no you don't...if it works if works. And music is not objective as sports. Art is open to interpretation. Sports is about production.

He is a maestro, caving up the defense with the most delicate strokes to paint a masterpiece. For him, the ball is his brush and the floor is his canvas. When asked if the game is an art form, Irving lit up.

“Oh yeah it is, for sure.” Irving said. “It’s just a lot of movement, a lot of thoughts that we have to put into action. The responsibility you have to put in other people, the responsibility you have to put in yourself and demand it every single possession, and the energy that it takes out of you in order to do that for your teammates on both ends of the floor.”

Irving constantly preaches perfecting his craft. He’s never clarified which craft he’s talking about…

“It’s just a constant masterpiece that you have to paint. Sometimes it’s going to be all scribble and stuff like that. It’s okay to get out of the lines. That’s the way I think of it sometimes or, excuse me, most of the time when I’m describing it and watching it. Just watching so many different details that I need to do in order to think about the best way to get a win.”

A good rule for thumb is if you are willing to drop almost anything you are doing to watch an athlete perform then you're probably a stan. For example, whenever Kobe Bryant was in his prime and playing basketball I made it a point to watch him play. He was the definition of MUST WATCH TV cause on any given night he would give you a performance for the ages.

Good for Kyrie. Now with all that artwork, is he a GOAT?

Narrow or not you know its true. The reason Jordan instantly became the most popular player in the NBA as a rookie was because of his breathtaking style of play. Nobody had seen that sort of athleticism and skill before in a 6'6" guard. It immediately set him apart and created his legend.

If Jordan was some ground-bound player who played like James Harden (for example) he would not be anywhere to close to as popular as he is now even if his numbers and accolades stayed the same. James Harden has put up monster numbers at Houston since he arrived there and he has never come close to being as a guy like T-Mac in his height.

Style of play matters. When a player is not only great but also has an aesthetically pleasing game to watch, he will be incredibly popular and a must watch on TV.
You love Bron style :ahh:

In that case I've never been a Stan

Did I not say you don't?

If you're gonna go back and forth all night about this, Kyrie is the wrong hill.

Ok. I have one question, answer it honestly. If the NBA decided to outlaw the current style of play. and forced the players to not only dibble but take on the style of 60s-70s would you still continue to watch?
