this shyt is way bigger than bron

America enabled China, wanted that cheap labor and thought they were dealing with South America and China flipped the script.

It's an indirect way of disparaging him for calling an educated white man ignorant.

Lebron just shut down the legacy of colonialism and propaganda in a short interview, without saying much. This guy might end up as great as Muhammad Ali when it's said and done. If only he took a stand with the Tamar Rice situation - I think he dropped the ball with that and he knows it.

Is it really just liberal whites? Have you seen some of the talking points in here? Most of them are white supremacist talking points.
Here we go with the "my idol made dumb hypocritical statements but I'm gonna call anyone that disagrees a c00n" narrative that you dudes run with. Pathetic and shameful.

Cacs trying to up another cac while trying to demean bron. By their logic Morey is educated enough to talk about pulmonary hypertension also
I wish Bron never spoke on the shyt. He would have taken heat for giving a no comment, I don’t have enough information but now these cac journalist are going to try and pounce. I see it already with these high school education comments.

Its as much of a tactic as the bullshyt you're kicking trying to call everybody that disagrees a hypocritical racist cac or c00n (which I'm sure will be next if someone black feels Lebron fukked up).

It's hypocritical because the majority of Americans are outraged about human rights violations going on in another country while showing very little concern over black people's human rights. Especially if you consider US History.

LeBron backtracking tweet about clarifying himself is bullshyt considering he DEFINITELY didn't keep that same energy about the ramifications of what Kaepernick did. Don't speak for how someone else wants to voice their protest or support.

LeBron saying this just saved the players ass in China. The owners and management still got to catch hands but the players just got a get out of jail card.

Is Morey educated on the topic? Does LeBron know if Morey is educated on the topic?

Can we just address this now cause people are arguing out of both sides of their mouth between now and the day this first happened.

Everyone was quick to point out that the Rockets higher profile in China made this all the worse that Morey posted the tweet, but now this fact is being conveniently thrown out because Morey is not speaking out any further as part of Rockets damage control program.

Morey goes to China multiple times per year.
The Rockets have had double digit players go from the team to the CBA, and some have come back to play for the Rockets again
Many Rockets players have negotiated deals with the Chinese apparel brands
The Rockets have Chinese companies that have ad placements inside Toyota Center
Morey was GM during the time that Yao was in Houston and Zhou Qi was drafted by Morey
From what has been posted on ClutchFans, Morey was made aware of the situation in HK by people he knows that actually live there.

Morey is by far more acquainted with China, being in China, and Chinese culture than the average American.

It can be strongly argued that he didn't know what the level of response would be by the Chinese government, but to say he has no context or information on China and how they operate is flat out wrong

Calling someone uninformed when they have MBA from MIT is hilarious also.
You see, I'm not even trying to call you out but this is why Black people need to know their history and read. Because if you would have read even any great Black thinker, you would immediately know what LBJ is talking about. I don't care who you read whether it be James Baldwin, W.E.B. DuBois, Frederick Douglass, Martin King or Malcolm X you'll see the same common vein. White Americans lack the fundamental ability to empathize with disadvantaged people.

Early in the 19th century, serious internal weaknesses developed in the Qing dynasty that left China vulnerable to Western, Meiji period Japanese, and Russian imperialism. In 1839, China found itself fighting the First Opium War with Britain. China was defeated, and in 1842, signed the provisions of the Treaty of Nanking which were first of the unequal treaties signed during the Qing Dynasty. Hong Kong Island was ceded to Britain, and certain ports, including Shanghai and Guangzhou, were opened to British trade and residence. In 1856, the Second Opium War broke out. The Chinese were again defeated, and now forced to the terms of the 1858 Treaty of Tientsin. The treaty opened new ports to trade and allowed foreigners to travel in the interior. In addition, Christians gained the right to propagate their religion. The United States Treaty of Wanghia and Russia later obtained the same prerogatives in separate treaties.

Toward the end of the 19th century, China appeared on the way to territorial dismemberment and economic vassalage—the fate of India's rulers that played out much earlier. Several provisions of these treaties caused long-standing bitterness and humiliation among the Chinese: extraterritoriality (meaning that in a dispute with a Chinese person, a Westerner had the right to be tried in a court under the laws of his own country), customs regulation, and the right to station foreign warships in Chinese waters, including its navigable rivers.
What Daryl Morey was ignorant about was the emotional reaction Chinese people have with regards to their tragic history of Colonialism. Martin King called it a Western arrogance that believes they have "everything to teach others and nothing to learn from them." Here's the truth. You can describe to Daryl Morey until you are blue in the face, how it feels to see another Black person murdered by a Police officer for doing nothing or than existing but he will never be able to understand the emotional power and feeling that that event conveys. Daryl Morey can read all he wants about how China was a colony of Great Britain and how Hong Kong was stolen from China, but what he will never be able to understand is the emotion and the shame that comes with a National disgrace. Not to say I can. But what I can do is look at history and peace together by seeing what people are willing to sacrifice.

There's a reason why Colonialism has been left in the waste bin of history. It's because people in the developing world were willing to sacrifice whatever was necessary to make sure that happened. Think about it. Look at how much more advanced Western Countries are than Countries in Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean. Now think about how much bigger that difference must have been 60 to 70 years ago when Colonialism met its end. No western country gave up its colonies willingly. The citizens of those countries had to fight and had to die in numbers inconceivable to the average American to unify their country.

Daryl Morey's ignorance is the same kind of ignorance that doomed America in Vietnam. America went in thinking that the North Vietnamese leaders had the same value system as them. As an American they knew that at some point if too many soldiers died they'd give up and they assumed that North Vietnamese leaders would feel the same way. Do you know how many Vietnamese people died fighting to unify their country and drive out the Americans? Estimates put the number between around 1 million to 4 million. Now realize that before the U.S. fought in Vietnam, North Vietnam was fighting the French. And before they were fighting the French they were fighting Japan. Total estimates put that number between 400k to 800k total Vietnamese dead.

If you take the total number of people in Vietnam at the start of the Vietnam War and you use the high number of casualties 4.8 million. You end up with an absolutely horrifying 17% of the population dying between those two Wars for independence. If you take the high number and you compare to the size of Vietnam at the end of the Vietnam War you end up with a still gruesome 10.9% of the population. I'll put those two percentages in American numbers for you. Right now 327 million people live in America. 17% of that is around 55 million people. 10.9% of that is around 10.9% is around 35.6 million people. Even if you use the low estimate of 1.4 million and the 1974 population size you still end up with 3.18%. Which comes out to 1 million people dead in current American population size.

What Daryl Morey could never understand, but what his tweet reached into is the emotion that would drive a people to sacrifice that amount of human life. As an American we could never understand the emotion directly, but what we can understand is what they are willing to sacrifice.
