It's funny how some of yall expect bron to publicly take a stand on an extremely controversial issue on which 95% of americans are completely uninformed about. Our own government hasnt condemned the CCP's actions in HK yet you want lebron to? This feels like a media trap for black athletes: they admit they're uninformed about the issue, and then the media jumps all over them for not "supporting democracy". why don't we have that same energy towards our actual government who are the ones responsible for conducting foreign policy? Why should athletes be pressured to speak up on political issues they dont care about instead of actual politicians?

He shouldn't have said shyt, that's the real issue.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to say that in this thread but that's what it really comes down to. The fact that he came out after it was dying down at least over here, just to say what he said wasn't smart or about anything but bending the knee to Fin Fang Foom.

Silver has given the official word on the NBA's stance and he's been in communication with them. Lebron taking it upon himself or being trotted out by the NBA to suck more dikk after that is understandably going to open him up for criticism.

On one hand I get the point Bron was making in how that tweet fukked up the money, but on the other hand u cant market yourself as some social justice guru and then make a comment that careless about a situation u dont know anything about.

This is what happens when your brand is based on being "socially aware". I dont blame Bron for his comments, I too could really give two fukks about whats happening in Hong Kong

But

I also cant blame those taking Bron to task for his comments. It's obvious this dude is just another capitalist .... like most other super star athletes. Hopefully all those phony comparisons he was getting to Ali will now cease and desist.

This didn't age well
He's not wrong.

The Hong Kong - China problem is not as simple as the "poor Hong Kong-ites" want Democracy and "big bad China is stopping them."

There's layers to this.
There is but at the end of the day China is a totalitarian authoritative regime trying to stomp out democracy in HK. They harvest organs, torture and beat protestors and have the most advanced police state in all of human history. We're well on our way to being china's bytch if we keep having these cacs in office and no one stands up to the human rights abuse China perpetrate.
