To get out of the west, you have to beat one good western team in most years, two at the most. The first round series is basically a bye unless a star player is injured.

If the conference difference is what you claim, you have to discount the fact that Kobe was always able to play inferior teams on the finals instead of an additional round against a top west team.

Lmao laker fans been saying that the western conference finals was the true finals matchup,

But thanks for letting me know you understand that and just pretend to be stupid

I was getting worried for you

i like it, it's a compromise between the 1-16 seed idea and the current 8 & 8 conference reps. you still get 8 teams per, but set it up so that it might be the best two teams playing in the finals. makes the regular season matter more as well
To me this is the most important factor out of anything. Cleveland, Miami, and even before them Boston basically punted on large parts of the regular season because they knew home court didn't matter since they were so much better than the rest of the teams in the conference. If it's 1-16 seeding getting that 2 or 3 seed becomes of utmost importance so it should motivate all teams to take the regular season much more serious. Also it'll create a lot more races for seeding since it's doubling up the number of teams records that teams would be competing against for the different seeds.

i'd say the main concern is travel more than anything. it could work really well for some and horrendously for others.

imagine the celtics facing the jazz in the first round, the thunder in the second round, the clippers in the semis and the rockets in the finals.

the geographical part makes it tough

Bron would travel halfway across the globe between each game if that was all it would take to play the Bucks or Pacers in the first round versus the Timberwolves or Thunder instead.

Teams like the Wolves or Raptors gotta travel way more compared to all those Southwest and Pacific division teams anyway; making more teams have to travel a somewhat similar amount by making seeding 1-16 and eliminating conferences would probably even out the rest disadvantage overall.

May have been posted already but :dead: @ people saying the East is so weak when if they switched to this 1-16 format, 7 of the 8 East teams still make it

Lets play this out.

1. Rockets vs 11. Thunder
2. Warriors vs 8. Wizards
3. Raptors vs 7. Wolves
4. Celtics vs 5. Cavs

1. Rockets vs Cavs
2. Warriors vs Raptors

Warriors vs Cavs in the finals

EC teams are pretty even with the WC all the way through the championship. Obviously seeding helped the East but East is just as good as the West

Lol at "rewarding" a top 2 team with three straight cross country series.
