He's no Daniel Day Lewis, but Leo is a beast...check out the following films to see him REALLY act, not this new commercial shyt he's been in:

This Boy's Life, Basketball Diaries, What's Eating Gilbert Grape,. Revolutionary Road; these are little seen films but they showcase his versatility.

Everybody in Revolutionary Road was amazing. The acting alone is worth watching that one

It's bad to because I'm a big fan of Leo but really want Chiwitel to win as well. It seems like Leo always gets shafted at the Oscars. Hell, he didn't even get nominated last year. As much I enjoyed christoph waltz in Django, I think Leo should have won best supporting actor.

I think Leo is great but I wouldn't say he's even in the top 10.
And he seems to get upstaged by actors in his movies a lot.

By Kate Winslet in Titanic
By Kate Winslet in Revolutionary Road
By Jack Nicholson in The Departed.
By Daniel-Day Lewis in Gangs of New York.

He's a wonderful actor but there are several others that put together stronger performances.

I mean, this is just my personal preference, so it goes with a grain of salt..

Daniel-Day Lewis.
Gary Oldman
Sean Penn
Geoffrey Rush
Christoph Waltz - just off the strength of Inglourious Basterds alone
Adrien Brody - though I wish he'd go back to making serious films like The Pianist.
Bryan Cranston has to be among the top off the strength of Breaking Bad. The arc of the series and how his character developed was amazing.
Benicio Del Toro
Christian Bale
Mads Mikkelsen - check out "After the Wedding" (2006).

I thought about making a thread talking about which actors put in the best performances as villains...or the bad guy.

I'd go with Heath Ledger as the Joker.
But Gary Oldman in The Professional was awesome. I know he also played Dracula but I never saw that movie.

I'd probably say that nobody played the bad guy/bad ass/jerk more consistently than Gene Hackman though.

I'm sure I am forgetting a number of foreign actors.
Edgar Ramirez as Carlos the Jackal was a great actor too.
So was Vincent Cassell in those two Mesrine movies.

Oldman in Bram Stokers and as the villian dreadhead in True Romance are the flicks that made me love him so much. :lawd: he's the ultimate villian.
