Bird was a beast and it is a shame the current generation downplays him like he wouldn't be a star in today's game. What Bird and to a lesser degree Magic lacked in athleticism they made it for it in basketball no how and a killer instinct. They just saw the game different.

Great point by @V-2 about putting up those assists numbers without dominating the ball.

Bird had this intense anger and focus on the game that was Jordan-like. Dude walked oit of the stadium in his fukking uni, didnt even bother to change, after losing. Didn't give a fukk about friendship. One thing i noticed that wasnt really anything but stood out to me was how they were in the locker room before the game and cedric had on his headphones, moving along to the music and Larry was just staring straight ahead, like no foolin around. Remember cedric saying you couldnt talk to larry about nothing but basketball
Politics? history? current events? No no and no. All he would talk about was basketball. I cant even imagine a player like that today with all the distractions and money they got.

I'm a Jordan stan so i couldnt stand this dude as a kid, especially with him being a cac and the media bias overhyping him. But as I got older and actually looked back on his game, this dude became one of my favorites; both for his style of play and his mentality and shyt talking. Had the classy Dr. J fight him cause of his play and words. Cold blooded. GOAT SF.

How much Vietnamese opium you been smoking breh?

Yeah that was a bit much.

KD is like Dirk but way more athletic....and Dirk gave Bron that work. Even somebody like Love was putting up crazy numbers with 1/3 of the white boy magic Larry Bird had.

Put Bird in the league today...where the 3 is much more of a weapon than it was in his era.

That's Dirk on steroids. And he wasn't as bad on defense as people make him out to be either.

No doubt, his skill set lended itself to the construct of team basketball as well as anyone who ever played. He's rated as a SF, but really played as more of a 4 closer to the rim his first four years in the league and only moved out to the perimeter to accommodate McHale's abilities when he was finally inserted into the starting five full time after the Cedric Maxwell trade. No problem, in fact he became much deadlier overall and still made an impact on the boards.
