Kevin McHale actually gets slept on majorly. Dude was obscenely skilled and blisteringly effective on the low block like nobody's business. In the last 30 years, only Dr34m tops him for big man footwork and low post supremacy IMO. He was putting up 26 PPG on 60%+ (!) at his best, including on Sampson and Olajuwon themselves in the '86 Finals. The only reason he didn't take FMVP is because Larry Legend was on some 24/10/10 (rounding 9.7 RPG and 9.5 APG) for the series.

^ Where's the love @Wiirdo?

I was watching McHale highlights last night. I knew he was a great player in the past, but I never knew how great. His footwork is absolutely fukking beautiful. I never would have guessed it. That fake he had was just a work of art

Baby Dirk was a fantastic athlete for a 7 footer. Early on he was basically a Small Forward. He followed the Jordan career arc perfectly and became a dominant post player as his athleticism faded.

But before that he was a less athletic version of what Kevin Durant is now.

Not nearly the passer Bird was but I would argue that he was quicker.

Yeah young Dirk and KD kinda had the same swag. I can see KD using that flamingo jawn more once he slows down a little bit athletically.

Yeah, he was one of the most skilled, efficient and unguardable players in the history of the game. "Underrated" doesn't even do him justice, particularly given how good he was on the other end defensively. In the post - his drop step, shoulder fakes, up-and-under counters were absolute hell to deal with, equally adept with fadeaways and jump hooks. McHale will destroy you, for real.

If Dirk were faster, more athletic and could run point forward... you'd have Bird.
And if had magic's passing ability
And if he could talk shyt like Bernie Mac
And if he had the heart of a stone cold killer
And if he had the detmination of a psychopath
If he had John Stockton's vision
And if he had Nick Van Exel's game win/clutch shot ability

Then he would be Larry Bird
