Michael Jackson was definitely not :flabbynsick: by the time Dangerous dropped. In fact, :flabbynsick: is often erroneously used. Suggesting that Michael Jackson was flabby is to say that he was well past his prime, but was delusional enough to think that he could compete with the new guys that were out. Not only was Michael Jackson competing, but he was winning.

of course he was winning off of name & brand value.

if somebody new came out and did dangerous instead, it wouldn't have went far.

Mj`s favorite album was off the wall and it's the best album he's made. Dude cried cause he only got one grammy for the album knowing it was a complete masterpiece.

I think you can go song for song and it would be better than thriller. In general off the wall had the better feel.

Off the Wall puts me off the wall, my favorite album from Michael no question. I could listen to that album every damn day and not get tired of it. Loved the disco elements all throughout, Quincy on production, and Stevie co-writing my favorite track from him. :wow:

Both were classics but Off the Wall was more of an R and B album. Thriller was less of an R and B album and more on the pop side Bad was even more of a pop album.

Reading that, I could have sworn I wrote it..lol.

It something about the feel of Off the Wall. It will always be my favorite MJ albums. I remember telling a dude that when I was living in Montgomery. He was an hardcore MJ fan but didn't give much of a listen to Off the Wall for some reason. I told him to listen to both of them back to back and tell me what he thinks. He came back to work looking at me like :francis:

Statements like that are pointless, because no one will ever know what would've been. Fact remains though, the music is what made Dangerous a success, not Jackson's name or brand value.

its pretty obvious. just like when every other big artist clearly loses momentum, even if the album sells well.

- mixed reviews from the public.
- popularity not where it used to be.

come on breh. Michael Jackson's name alone just sold an album recently.

We both know that happened because michael was a fool and chose the worst song on the album "Black or White"as the first video to primiere on primetime TV...

Lets not kid outselves now. We know how stupid humans are. With how critically acclaimed the remember the time video was, it would be a different reaction to dangerous if he made that classic video the first single.

People just got turned off by the Black and White video. He was clowned all year for the crotch grab on the car and the baseball bat and the wack rap in the middle of the song.

Step your creepy stan game up like me then u will know what TRULY happened :camby:

Your pops statement sounds dumb as fukk. I mean there were trash songs MJ recorded for thriller that he thankfully left off. One of them was called carousel where the first line he is talking about ponies and unicorns or some shyt.

But the songs on the official album ? :dahell: how were they not hit singles? What kind of dumb rationality is it to say the chemistry was the only reason it was good

Speaking of Mike. These are some random ass points but i wish he had named the Bad album "Smooth Criminal". Do u agree? I mean I love Bad but the title seems corny in hindsight.

Also Prince released like 7 albums in the 80s, Mike should have released more. I understand waiting a while after thriller and i know his reason besides wanting to take his time was that he didnt wanna overexpose himself.

But he should have at least released 2 albums at the very least.

One thing i will say that i think you will agree with is that overtime i think mike focused more on music videos than he should have did on actual content.

Like when he said after thriller sold all those copies, he wanted to sell 100 million with bad. That is a dangerous mindset to have.
:patrice:

he had the triumph album though which was basically a bridge between off the wall and thriller
triumph
thriller
victory
BAD

breh. this isn't just some artist. this is Michael Jackson we're talking about.

he didn't just get brushed off because of the 1st single. hes too big for that.

most people heard the tape. it was cool but nothing spectacular.

THRILLER = KFC

OFF THE WALL = POPEYES

Thriller is like KFC everybody white black asian has had it......and its available everywhere

off the wall is like Popeyes...Black People love it!!!...and it's usually found in urban areas

every black household i went to back in the day IF they had records HAD a copy of OFF THE WALL

Off the wall gritty soulful sound was perfect for cookouts, family reunions or just music to play at the crib

and I WANNA ROCK WITH YOU is better than ANY SINGLE ON THRILLER

Rock With You is better than Billie Jean and Wanna Be StartinSomething? :dahell:

Breh I think Prince's death is fukking your thought process up
