I don't know what I'm more confused at: People thinking the GameCube was next gen or the Game Cube was actually good?
Right! The nostalgia is clouding a lot of judgement, well I hope that's what it is and just not out right stupid. N64 was fun as kids, but when you list all the good games its really only a handful compared to PS and Xbox. Sony won that generation. PS2 came about, WON that generation too and every since its been Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo had a nice run in terms of casual people. But thats it casual people are casual about it. They arent posting in forums with us having these conversations and debates. They aren't checking for anything new and their content with what they already have. Hell they dont even understand the differences between systems and games!
If Nintendo made a new system with equal powered hardware it would still be ass simply because I wouldn't get any 3rd party support. At this point in the game with a next gen, what the fukk do we all really do on our systems? Play games, stream video from a service or USB, stream music from a service or usb. Thats it systems are all the fukking same now with a bunch of neat bells and whistles. Kinect was nice, but how often are you using it? PS move was nice, who is ranting about it still? As long as the system has the basic core items its all the same shyt. Nintendo needs to fold on home consoles period. Do like Sega and release their titles on PS and XBOX and eat. Every single one of us will cop Mario Kart 64 for 30 dollas, a game that's decades old, just so we could play with our friends over Xbox live and PSN. We'd buy Smash bros to do the same. Nintendo would make a killing rehashing old as games like that if they simply released them on all the systems. Then they could make a more adult Zelda and Metroid. Metroid Prime 1&2 were amazing FPS. Nintendo is done, they aren't and cant change anything.
I always said Nintendo could easily have the best online component if they weren't so conservative about online.

Nintendo is still needed in the console market. The FPS shyt ain't gonna last forever. The industry is going to crash if everyone does the same thing, kinda like the rap game being flooded with trap rappers that keep flopping.
They dont need a console. What could their console possibly do that the others cant? NOTHING. Like i said they can release the games and gimmicky peripherals.
They still have a lot of great ideas hardware wise. They will save the industry yet again when everyone else just focuses on more visual and less on gameplay.

There is barely enough market share for Playstation/X-Box, Nintendo have carved out their own little kiddie/family niche that has ensured they haven't gone the way of Sega. Lets not forget the Gamecube was a relative flop, and the PS1 also shytted on the N64. They had to re-invent themselves.

Business wise they need a console. They still make money from console sales and their stock market value would plummet if they just dropped out of the casual console market.
i don't know why people are thinking of a Nintendo console with the same dearth of third party support. We're talking a next gen Nintendo system that's not only powerful enough to run modern games easily, but also having the classics Nintendo drop along with the regular GTA's, 2ks, AssCreeds etc.

Point is Playstation and X-Box are the established market leaders in this area, and consoles are becoming a thing of the past, not of the future.
Is this a joke?? Have you seen the sales of PS4?? How is a console that's already sold 20.2 million WW becoming a thing of the past?
They have handheld consoles that are doing very well, but like you said consoles aren't the future. If they dropped out the home console and just released games on all systems they would make more money than trying to develop, market, and release a whole new system. They'd make billions just releasing a bunch of games decades old onto the PSN and Xbox Live severs. Off that they'd have even more capital to work with to release new up to date games
That's the short sighted view. Yes its selling now, but lets think next gen for a second. How much stronger are consoles going to get, how much multitasking is there going to be before they are just simply PCs. They are already starting to do things people can do on their phones and laptops. Most people are playing games, and watchin netflix and streaming music. You can do that on PS and Xbox. The only difference is a slight difference in graphics and interface, its all gonna start looking the same in the long run
